Cradle of Humankind half day tour
Overview
Cradle of Human is a world Heritage site since from 1999 being honored for proving to the world it is true Africa is a continent to human origin. Through fossils excavated from this area everyone now answered that human ancestors are based in African soil.
The journey of human evolution research takes us back to the years of Charles Darwin famous voyage from 1831 to 1836 which followed by written correspondence with fellow naturalists around the world. Through this he truly predicted Africa to be a place of Human evolution.
The most significant discovery was done by Professor of Anatomy in the University of Witwatersrand in 1924 when he discovered the 'Taung child'. This vindicated Charles Darwin claim although the world rejected Dart's claim.
Finally it was Robert Broom's triumph that brought the world attention. In 1947 he discovered what he described "the most important fossil skull in the world's history". That was the first lady named Mrs. Pless here at the Cradle of Humankind.
