We had a great tour with Chris, as part of a small group on the Majestic Princess on 3rd Feb 2023 (with Andy P who did an earlier review). Chris met us early at the meeting point, we stopped for a good view across to the ship on our way to Blenheim, and we visited Lawson’s Dry Hills, Rock Ferry, St. Clair (where we had a very nice lunch), the famous Cloudy Bay, and Nautilus Wines, with a final stop at Makana Chocolates. Chris kept us to schedule and is very knowledgeable about wines and wine-making - all in all, it was a great day out and reasonably priced compared to what the ship tour charged and covered, Would recommend Na Clachan Wine Tours if you are looking for a good tour in this area.Chris and Toni showed us a fantastic wine tasting day out in picton on our private shore excursion for five We visited four fabulous wineries where we had wine tastings. Chris and Toni showed us a fantastic wine tasting day out in picton on our private shore excursion for five We visited four fabulous wineries where we had wine tastings. One was a French inspired winery with tastings in a beautiful church. Very scenic location Lunch was at No 1 family winery which was excellent. Lunch was at your own cost as are the tastings. I had the local mussels for lunch and they were delicious as were everyone else’s s chosen meals. Lunch included a free wine tasting which was quite nice. A gallery is also on this site and worth a look We visited the local chocolate factory for dessert for some tastings and purchases if you wish. Chris and Toni were a lot of fun and knew all about grapes and the local winemakers We were back in plenty of time for the shuttle back to the ship Highly recommend this tour.Great to see our tour guide Chris was early to meet our group cos this allowed us to go to a scenic lookout to get a great photo of our ship. Great to see our tour guide Chris was early to meet our group cos this allowed us to go to a scenic lookout to get a great photo of our ship. Interesting informative commentary throughout the day. We visited 5 wineries, one national and 4 boutique. Just about all the wines we tasted were excellent or very great and the rest personal choice. Not a criticism of the tour but wineries were very busy and the staff couldn’t devote the time they might wish. Would very much recommend this tour to cruise ship passengers, particularly as the tour very reasonably priced for what you get.Our cruise ship stop in Picton left us plenty for time for a 10am to 4 pm wine tour with Na Clachan Wine Tours. Our cruise ship stop in Picton left us plenty for time for a 10am to 4 pm wine tour with Na Clachan Wine Tours. The best thing about this tour (besides the wine of course) was Chris's expert knowledge of his subject, elaborating on the explanations we received at each winery. We had thought that our tour would be just all Sauvignon Blancs, but we were very surprised to experience other Marlborough wines such as Albarino, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and of course the very light Rose wines. We visited Nautilus, Rock Ferry, Saint Clair, Whitehaven and Forrest wineries, with sufficient extra time for the Makana Chocolate Factory and a visit to a lookout overlooking the ship. Lunch was at our own expense at Saint Clair, with a variety of light or substantial meals on offer. Many thanks to Chris for a well-planned and most enjoyable day.We chose this 6 hour wine tour primarily because it advertised it was tailored to fit in with the cruise ship timetable. We chose this 6 hour wine tour primarily because it advertised it was tailored to fit in with the cruise ship timetable. Firstly we were pleased to see we were in a 10 seater van so we knew to expect a more intimate tour than on a large coach. From the pick up at the Picton I centre until our timely return, we were treated to a wonderful informative tour of 6 wineries including boutique wineries, tasting up to 30wines where we had personalised talks by winery staff. While driving between them, our tour operator Chris added more interesting information about the region. Lunch was not included in the price but Chris had made a table reservation at Alan Scott Winery with ample time to enjoy our own choice of food. While we were on a strict time frame, Chris still managed to squeeze in a quick visit to a chocolate factory, and when we asked about buying bottled water before our imminent return to the ship, Chris kindly made a brief stop at a local shop for us. Thank you Chris for an excellent day.Once again we have had a wonderful wine tour with Chris & Bill. The wineries were great and Chris's commentary was very knowledgeable. This is our 3rd tour with Chris and we highly recommend this excellent company. Geoff & Kim Valentine
