Sadly, because of poor directions to the touring company departure site in Munich, my husband and I missed the booked tour with a guide. We did end up traveling to the site by train and bus and rented the audio guide. The visitor’s center also provided a map which was not very detailed and we found both it and the audio guide not very helpful. Hearing brief parts of other tour guides we knew we missed out on an in-depth understanding of what we saw. We spent about four hours there. It is overwhelming yet very well done and a true memorial to the inhumane, unrelenting cruelty of the Nazzis met with superhuman endurance, courage and empathy of the victims. The knowledge of our guide and how information was presented was perfect. Highly recommend this tour

This tour provided us insights in to some events happened before, during & after WW2 & gave us an opportunity to revisit the events & remember them with some sadness. Tour guide “German Mark” was very knowledgeable & passionate in sharing his knowledge with us also answering many questions the tour group had. I think it’s good tour to understand the past & also hopefully not see similar events would not happen in the future to make the world a better place.I enjoyed our tour with Mark. He was very knowledge on the memorial and gave great insight. He also made sure everyone knew where to go when we got dropped off back in Munich. Super helpful! It was definitely a somber tour. However, the tour guide wasn't engaging. I don't mind using tour guides as I have gone on many tours, but it makes it more enjoyable when the guide engages the group. This tour is definitely not worth the price. You can take the train yourself to Dachau and get more out of it rather than with a guide. In the main area of the tour, we only stopped to look at 2 sections. And the parts we went in without the guide he told us to go and look for 5 minutes only. That essentially gave us enough time to walk through it, snap a couple of pictures, and go back outside. It didn't give us time to read the plaques. It's was so frustrating. At one point, near the end of the tour, he told us we would get to meet a survivor. Now you can imagine our surprise and excitement when he said that. We walk a bit, and then he stops and pulls out his binder and shows us a picture of the said survivor. A few of us rolled our eyes at this. All in all, Dachau is definitely worth a visit but without a tour. Go on your own.Eric was our guide and I can’t recommend him more!!!! He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and was extremely kind. Excellent tour.
