This is an extention tour of Dazu Rock Carvings. Most tour products offer only one site called Baoding, this extention tour covers both 2 sites in Dazu-Baoding and Beishan. Beishan site is less known for it's kind of isolated, and most tour companies would cut it off for lower price, plus most local guides were not trained for this site.
Beishan is a learning site fits those peace and quietness seekers, cultural historical learners. Stop At: Baoding Mountain Carved Stone, 16 km Northeast of Dazu County, Dazu County 402360 China
We pick up our travelers in their hotels then drive to Dazu County. Enjoy a roughly 2 hours ride through the country side of Chongqing then get to Baoding site, the major part of Dazu Carvings.
Dazu rock carvings is a massive ancient Buddhsim stone carving was built in Song dynasty, 800 years old. Over 10'000 statues were carved on vertical cliff, pretty much represents Chinese ancient religious art style and carving skill. Meawhile it's also functions like a Buddhism institute and holy site bring prayers and redemption to all Buddists.
In 1999 Dazu Rock Carvings were inscribed on World Heritage List by UNESCO.

Then move to Dazu downtown randomly pick up a local restaurant for lunch, a great chance to try real local flavor, spicy fresh water fish would an interesting option. Lunch is on us.

Beishan Rock Carvings is a secondary site of Dazu Carvings, older than Baoding site. Most tourists won't be here for it's sort of isolated. Good things is that makes Beishan a peaceful and quiet place surrounded by plantations and birds. Traveles might take a relaxed stroll among all these amazing ancient carvings and enjoy all these art stuff and fresh air. For those cultural historical learners this would be your whole world.

Then we'll take a little country hiking get on top of a small hill nearby, explore an ancient Buddhism pogada and a twin giant Buddha both over 800 year old.
This site won't be patronized by all tour groups, we'll be probably the only visitors around, our travelers may enjoy fresh air and a peaceful joyful stroll there.

Stop At: Jiefangbei Square, Junction of Mingzu Road, Mingquan Road and Zourong Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing 400000 China
Drive all the way back to Chongqong, Travelers might choose to end this tour either in their hotels or any other specified location.

Legend is amazing as a guide! We wanted to see the Dazu carvings, but knew that if we went alone we would miss out on so much of the history and information that are behind the carvings. I'm so glad we chose to go with Legend instead of a larger tour group (we also toured Wulong with him and would recommend him for that as well!). The attention to detail, the local dining experience we enjoyed, the information behind the carvings was well worth the cost of the tour. He was very knowledgeable and patient with our many questions, as well as more than helpful when he didn't need to be - he assisted us with doing a nighttime river cruise that was above and beyond what was required, as we were not using his services for that tour. When the local travel company wouldn't assist us with a nighttime cruise, we contacted Legend for help and he came through for us with flying colors and ended up saving us money in the long run. He took very good care of us! We will return to Chongqing next year and plan to look him up not just as a helpful guide but as a friend.fwatanabe1
