Terrible Customer Service - I was unable to visit Strasbourg for a day trip when my train was cancelled. I understood that I would need an exception to the 24 hour cancellation policy. I immediately notified the operator who said that only Viator could provide a refund as the ticket was purchased with Viator, not the tour operator. This was misleading. Viator agreed to a refund based on the situation but later reported that the operator vetoed the refund. When I called the operator back, they initially repeated the same false claim that they had no role in the process. They eventually admitted that they were responsible for the denial; just saying they were following policy. When asked whether the cancellation created costs for the operator, they eventually said it did not. Apparently, they just preferred to pocket the money. I have taken many tours and have not experienced this type of dishonesty and disregard for the customer. There were a number of options short of a full refund, but providing false information and claiming to have no role shows an organization that can’t be trusted. Our guide, Atreyu, was terrific.
