From Birmingham originally and I found it fascinating seeing the city from a tourist's point of view. The tour was great, mentioning the industrial heritage of Birmingham and with a comment about lots of places of note (modern as well as historical) on the way to St Paul's Square and back. Would definitely recommend this tour and am tempted to look at some of the others that were mentioned in passing. Should be compulsory for all native Brummies, as well as visitors to our city...!Learning about the process of electro-plating and handling a variety of antique electro-plated objects brought home the former importance of this industry for Birmingham. Learning about the process of electro-plating and handling a variety of antique electro-plated objects brought home the former importance of this industry for Birmingham. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgable , good on machinery, innovation and chemical processes, factory work and working from home, not to mention town planning and urban art, but this isn't a tour for adding to your jewellery collection. Jewellery Quarter is a slight misnomer it seems to me. I liked that.the guide took group photos and emailed.them to us within hours, also.that income from the tours goes to support a local homeless charity.Another brilliant tour with Jonathan - he is so knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to. This tour again told me things i didn't know about the industrial heritage of the city and about ellington's in particular.

A highlight was listening to Jonathon itemising the different types of Toy ware (plated silverware) made by Elkingtons and explaining how each was made and used. Jonathon is a mine of information. His talks are amusing, full of facts and figures and packed with little bits of incidental information (the Coffin factory's work on Princess Di's coffin?). Thoroughly recommended and a joy to be part of
