What to expect
The Divine Dolphin provides life changing encounters with wild Dolphins and Whales in their natural habitat of the waters off of Drake Bay, Costa Rica. We have been featured on countless websites, in magazines, feature films and TV shows, including the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and most recently National Geographic.
The Divine Dolphin is Drake Bay’s original dolphin and whale watching tour and it is the only tour we do. Our world famous tour is a combination of natural beauty, education, research and lots of FUN! Our new custom built tour boat, Delfin Amor, makes your trip comfortable, safe and provides great viewing for all aboard.
Costa Rica is one of the best places in the world to see dolphins and whales. Humpback Whales migrate from both North and South America and is the only place in the world this happens. Pods of hundreds and even thousands of several species of dolphins enjoy the warm, productive, tropical waters here.
Because of the love for the marine life and the unfortunate threat of commercial fishing, we are dedicated to research, conservation and education through our MPA for OSA campaign and in partnership with other international organizations.

What a special experience! This was my second tour with Divine Dolphin and the magic is that you never know what the experience will bring as you are dealing with wild animals and ever changing nature. This is not SeaWorld with the same act being done over and over with captive animals! That is the special part of these tours being led by Sierra as she is very in tune with the dolphins and whales as it's her specialty, not just one of many other tours, and she has a keen sense of finding the dolphins in the open waters and also listening if its the right time to be approaching and interacting. She is a true conservationist and has the animals well being as her primary focus; her delicious lunches reflect that as well, as she consciously chooses a plant based lunch (nothing that would cause dolphin/whale harm while being harvested). As part of our unique experience, we got to see the first whale that she has seen of the season do a beautiful jump for us and hang out with the spotted dolphins swimming around us, seeing the cute baby dolphins too! The scenery is astonishing as well, getting to experience the wild nature of the waters of the Osa Peninsula in the comfort of her well suited, comfortable boat. Plenty of room to move around when stopped, with a front of boat cushy dolphin viewing area and opportunities to jump off the back ladder of the boat to swim in the open ocean. I can't wait to do another tour and see what the next adventure brings!I recently went with Sierra in a dolphin tour in Drake Bay and it was a day I will never forget. I recently went with Sierra in a dolphin tour in Drake Bay and it was a day I will never forget. Sierra has a magical wah of finding the dolphins or maybe they find her. You can feel how deeply connected with them she is. We spent the entire day with 3 different species and swam with them too. Sierra's boat is set up perfect for these tours. Comfortable seats, double roofs for shading almost the entire boat and a padded dolphin watching area to watch the dolphins ride the bow wakes. She also has every piece of safety equipment available today. A really delicious lunch is included with the toud too. If you are in Drake Bay, The Divine Dolphin Tour should be at the top of your list. I can't wait to go on a whalw watching tour with her soon.I think I am not gonna lie if I say that this was the tour of our lives. We saw hundreds of dolphins within a few hours in their natural habitat. Sierra is very knowledgable, helpful and she knows where to find dolphins. Thank you for this amazing experience, I hope we can attend this tour in the future again! My husband and I booked this tour and it was the highlight of our visit to Drake Bay. My husband and I booked this tour and it was the highlight of our visit to Drake Bay. First of all, to get to Drake Bay was an adventure in itself. We drove in March 2021 during the dry season in our Tuscon diesel vehicle, not a 4 X 4 and easily crossed four rivers. Would not attempt it in rainy season. As for the tour, Sierra provided excellent communication - she sent us several emails with good information before the tour explaining in detail what to expect. Sierra and her captain met us at the beach at 8:00 AM as promised. There are no docks in Drake Bay - as in most of Costa Rica so be prepared to wade in the water to load on to the boat, we had no problem. We saw 2 or 3 pods of dolphins that merged into one consisting of thousands of dolphins. I can't describe the beauty of them swimming right next to the boat playfully leading us at times. Sierra has been operating the tour for about 25 years and her knowledge of dolphin and whales and the surrounding area of Corcovoda National Park was impressive. Delicious snacks of trailmix, lunch with pasta salad, fresh pineapple, coleslaw , chocolate chip cookies and water were provided. We snorkeled a little - equipment was provided - and had the most amazing day. The scenery and boat ride alone were worth the trip. We plan to go back again in August when the whales are migrating and want to bring some friends with us next time. Highly recommend this tour!!!This past February 2021, i took this tour with Sierra, who has been doing this for over 20 years. This past February 2021, i took this tour with Sierra, who has been doing this for over 20 years. She knows the whales and dolphins intimately and her intution is finely honed. We came upon a pod nursery of dolphin mothers about 50) and Sierra was thrilled. Each time we approached they would dive and Sierra explained how protective and cautious the mothers were and she stress we had to gain their trust. After following them for about an hour, their numbers grew, and accirding to Sierra they move in layers below the surface so when the dolphins decided we were safe to get closer, their numbers seelled to over a hundred and they swam and played along side the boat. We also came close to a whale which was wonderful. Over-all, thrip was educational, exciting snd cery fulfilling. I belueve if you get to Drakes Bay in the Osa Peninsula, book a tour with Sierra as she is so good at creating memorable experiences. I traveled to Drake Bay in March, and was fortunate enough to go on 2 dolphin tours hosted by Sierra and Coco (The Divine Dolphin). The tours were an experience of a lifetime, and I know I will be back. I think back on these days so fondly - they were truly magical. Sierra is so knowledgeable about the varieties of dolphins, and I feel like they know her and are drawn to her voice. The tours were so much fun - great music, delicious lunch and snacks, and incredible views. We saw so many dolphins, especially on my second tour, and my heart was instantly filled with joy. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is considering it! <3 Laura (from Toronto, Canada)
