Can’t recommend highly enough. I knew we were going to have an amazing time from the moment we arrived at the park gates and drove past all the queue, Darshana turned and grinned “surprise, I bought the tickets in advance!” What a great guide, a lovely lovely man, with the most amazing ability to spot the animals. We took 2 morning safari and two evening choosing to return to the hotel in between. We saw leopard on every trip. Our best trip we saw 4 different leopards, elephants a sloth bear and lots of amazing birds, crocodiles, Deer, Jackal, monitor lizards and mongoose. Darshana was patient to point them out but also excited to share his knowledge. He was respectful of the animals whilst trying to get us the best view. He also took photos as he is part of conservation groups for reptiles and snakes and cataloging the Leopards in the park which was fascinating to hear. The park can be a bit crazy with jeeps trying to see the same leopards but we had some amazing experiences away from the other jeeps on our own which were more special.A great experience to spot the wildlife of Sri Lanka. Hoping to spot a leopard, but sadly not. We did see elephants, water buffalo, wild boar, eagles, mongoose, kingfishers, bee eaters, monitor lizards and peacocks in abundance. A good knowledgeable jeep safari driver.

I went on the evening tour with Srimal and it was awesome. We saw many animals elephants, deer, birds, gators, water buffalo, but the best was when he was alerted there was a leopard in the area. We were like the four vehicle to the area. We were about 15 meters away as it sat right next to the road and wasn’t bothered by the jeeps. It sat for a while then laid down. It walked around and were we positioned so we could keep driving ahead instead of backing up in the traffic jam. We walked it for about 15 minutes. It went in the tree for a while then back into the bush. On the way home he stopped and bought some street food for us to try. It was delicious. He would go out of the way to make your trip awesome. Even stopping by the entrance gate for sunset photos. The next morning I booked a half day safari with Nalaka. He did a great job explaining the morning and how it would go. Search for leopard then breakfast and continue with safari. After breakfast we still hadn’t seen a leopard and was giving up hope as most go and sleep for the day. Near the end of the tour he was alerted of a leopard walking around in a different area from the night before. We got there and didn’t see it. We waited and waited and soon it appeared again walking in the brush eventually making its way up a tree for good pictures. Great company with many jeeps keeping an eye out for the leopard. No sloth bear though. I would highly recommend this company. Great pricing like $36 for am group with breakfast. $40 for pm with group. There are a lot of Jeeps in Yala (none made by jeep). There are a lot of Jeeps in Yala (none made by jeep). What matters is your driver / guide. Ours was excellent. We spent about 20 minutes within 25 metres of a leopard who was totally unmindful of us. Then we spent quite a lot of time close to an elephant who was traveling briskly. With both the leopard and the elephant our driver moved ahead and the animal them appeared close to us. At one point the elephant appeared from the jungle 5 meters behind where we had parked, walked by our vehicle within 2 meters and then back into the jungle on the other side of the road. Great trip. Lots of other animals and too many bird species to count.Had a wonderful safari with our driver Sirimal. Their mission is indeed showing a leopard and we got to see a graceful large leopard resting. That sure was the highlight of the safari. Recommend totally!
