It is the only waterfall in Korea that falls directly from a cliff into the ocean. You can descend a staircase lined with pine trees for about 5 minutes to see Jeongbang Waterfall, which sparkles with a galaxy-like hue when sunlight hits it. Even from a distance, the refreshing sound of the waterfall can be heard, and on either side of the waterfall are well-developed vertical cliffs. As it flows from Hallasan Mountain through Seogwipo City and tumbles into the sea, the sight of Jeongbang Waterfall, while not as grand as foreign waterfalls, harmonizes with nature and cascades gracefully, giving the impression of viewing a traditional ink painting. On one of the cliffs of Jeongbang Waterfall, the phrase "Seobulgwacha" is carved, which is said to be related to the following legend.
