A few howler monkeys were in the trees as we were riding by. Great experience both times. It is a slow paced ride and the tour guide Mrs. Carla is the sweetest most pleasant person to have. She is very knowledgeable about the area and surroundings. She knows her horses well. I would definitely go again when my youngest is a little older to be able to ride his own horse.St Leonards is great. We did the Xunantunich horseback tour with guide Elio. The horses are happy and healthy, and super safe! Did not spook at all. Elio is hilarious and really knows his stuff. I forgot bug spray and he had some extra for us. I forgot bug spray and he had some extra for us. We got a lot of great information about the Mayan ruins. Absolutely worth it to have the tour! The ruins themselves are great but the added layer of information is so worth it. Thank you St Leonards, Carla and Elio for being the best!Carla and her team were amazing. Where do I start? My wife and I started traveling together when we first got engaged about 11 years ago and we’ve been one a lot of tours/excursions in many different countries, as well as many different types (big tour companies and family run operations). We almost booked our tours through MayaWalk, who happen to be the ones who come up most often in search of tours in belize. I’ve heard good things, but I’m SO glad we booked directly with St Leonard’s to do horseback riding. Here is a family run business with multiple generations of Belizeans helping to run it. These guys were FANTASTIC. We scheduled ahead and booked an hour ride on the beautiful property that goes all the way down to the Mopan River. We were traveling with our 2 little ones aged 7 and 4 who both wanted to ride on their own. To provide the highest level of service and safety, they sent out a team of 3 guides!!! For a 4 person tour, you would not get this level of care and attention with a large operation. My kids felt so safe and comfortable along the whole ride. Everyone on staff was fully masked up in N95 masks even tho they were fully vaccinated you KNOW these guys are very serious at doing their part to keep everyone extra safe. We stopped at a few spots along the way to learn about the area. Great and knowledgeable conversationalists and just the sweetest family you’ll ever meet! I happen to have an interest in all the trees on their property as I’m big into horticulture and gardening. When we got back, Rodolfo gave us some avocados to take back with us to try. I know they do other tours as well, and we are definitely going to come back to tour with them again. Please support these local small businesses so they can keep providing these amazing experiences for us!Memorable trip! We had a mixed group - kid, youth, adults, mostly beginners and a seasoned rider.
