We recently completed a wonderful tour of Dhaka and nearby areas in Bangladesh with Taabu Tours. This was a fascinating and memorable experience. We especially enjoyed our time with Jafar our guide. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and well organized which meant we had the opportunity to see many major sights and learn so much about this area and the people of Bangladesh. We highly recommend touring this area and believe we were very fortunate to have the extra benefit of Jafar's warm personality and knowledge. Before coming to Dhaka I researched a bunch of potential tour agencies, with Taabu making my shortlist amongst others. Before coming to Dhaka I researched a bunch of potential tour agencies, with Taabu making my shortlist amongst others. Where it excelled was that while not being the cheapest (and you need to get your head round the fact that NO tours are particularly cheap in Dhaka - which is initially a bit of a shock!) then the itinerary offered and the speed/professionalism with which the comms are dealt with were head-and-shoulders above the other companies I contacted. These were ultimately the reasons I chose Taabu. Having chosen, the payment procedure was simple and secure using PayPal, which added confidence too. On the day of my tour my friendly guide Jafar arrived within 5 minutes of the agreed time (which as I was to find out is some achievement given Dhaka’s insane traffic!) with a driver Shahid... the former spoke good English and was both knowledgeable and friendly, the latter didn’t speak English but was clearly proficient at navigating the crazy traffic - so it was a good combination! The tour lasted ALL day, from 0800 until 1930, and included all of the “typical” city sights that they had on the itinerary, plus some cool extras (the shipbuilding area) added, together with a couple of places I’d specifically asked to visit to (ie the Liberation War Museum). The tour also included lunch at a “nice” restaurant... ie clean, air-con, good food (biryani obviously haha!!)... which acted as a good respite for an hour halfway through the day. I enjoyed the first day so much and felt very relaxed with these guys that I booked for a second day tour too - this time to Sonargoan. Whilst very different from the city tour, this was also interesting and worthwhile - not least because of the interactions with the young local school kids who all wanted selfies with possibly one of the first white people they’d ever seen! During this time Jafar wasn’t only my tour guide, he was also my bodyguard :) Anyway, to summarise, I’m very happy with Taabu (and Jafar) and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them/him to anyone else looking for a guide in and around Dhaka! My husband and I booked a vacation from taabu tour online we received our confirmation via email the day before our excursion we called to confirm pick up. My husband and I booked a vacation from taabu tour online we received our confirmation via email the day before our excursion we called to confirm pick up. It was very easy to get a hold of the company to confirm our trip. Next Day Jafar arrived 5 minutes before our schedule time which was a great plus. I felt very comfortable with our tour guide from the start. He started by teaching us Bangla phrases! Our first stop was the Baitul Mokarram Mosque before we got out of the car Jafar explaind to us about Dhaka City. We also did a short horse carriage ride which was amazing! After that we went to Sadarghat which blew my mind away it was crazy to see how busy and colorful a harbor could be. We had Lunch at Nawabi Voj it was great to eat a local lunch in Old Dhaka. Over all this was a great trip Jafar is a very kind and honest person! I forgot to mention our driver Somrat great driver he got us everywhere safely Dhaka is really a very busy city! If you go to Dhaka definitely book aheadIt was beyond my imagination! We started the day with the central mosque which is the 10th largest mosques in the world with capacity of 80 thousand people! I went on this personal tour in July - incredibly hot and muggy but I coped. Jafa from TaabuTour is a great guide: patient, helpful and knowledgeable. The driver we had was careful - an extremely important characteristic in the utterly chaotic Dhaka streets and byways. Jafa took me places I was fascinated to see and went to great lengths to ensure we visited locations I had not been before. The Ship breaking yard in particular is mindboggling. This is the second of the two tours I did with Jafa.
