I booked in advance for two adults and two children which was so easy to do online. We met the guide Tiberius, outside the visitor office at exactly the right time. The guide was in full costume and was extremely friendly throughout the tour. He tailored all of the extremely interesting information to suit his audience. Many of the facts were relevant for children and families. It was also quite an interactive tour. He often got the children out to help him. He really painted the picture of Chester as a Roman city. I also really enjoyed the fact that we were able to handle some original and replica artefacts. My favourite part was visiting a restricted access area under a shop that had pieces of a Roman building that we could otherwise not have seen if we had not been on the tour. Excellent value for money and a really good time was had by all.Guyus was extremely informative and entertaining, we learned so many new facts and he made retention so easy as his story telling is enthralling, on an adult level. Guyus was extremely informative and entertaining, we learned so many new facts and he made retention so easy as his story telling is enthralling, on an adult level. We live locally, and this type of activity had never ocurred to us before, had we not had an international visitor...... needless to say, we had a great couple of hours, and would definately recommend this tour to everyone..... not just tourists!! We will try the Medieval tour next. Also the very lovely lady in the visitor centre made us really welcome at the start. Thankyou!Centurion Gaius was fascinating, knowledgeable and entertaining. We learnt a lot about Roman life and the life of the local people - from the big picture to small everyday details. Excellent.
