I booked a tour for my parents they’re older and found out they will going to take 900 steps coming down ! walking a lot is different than taking 900 steps down and when I contacted the Tour company they’re just denying everything and basically I paid them in full and my parents and didn’t do the tour ! and now I have all the money i waste wasted! Poor customer service … denial … I guess that’s Brazilian tour guides for you! Word of advise do it yourself to avoid wasting money! I’ve travelled all over the world and if there is a problem the tour companies accommodate you not just deny and talk back to you! Terrible service !To anyone who's doubtful on whether to visit the Santa Marta Favela during a stay in Rio, i say that to us personally it was a highlight, Thiago (a local tour guide) and his associate Filipe, who accompanied us throughout the tour will portray the true sense of community in the Santa Marta Favela...
To anyone who's doubtful on whether to visit the Santa Marta Favela during a stay in Rio, i say that to us personally it was a highlight, Thiago (a local tour guide) and his associate Filipe, who accompanied us throughout the tour will portray the true sense of community in the Santa Marta Favela, how it was formed/ created and the development throughout the years. You will also get the best views of Rio, duration 2 hours. And finally, such a tour helps build a bridge between the different society fabrics of the city and, most importantly, supports them in an economic senseGreat guide and tour. It started on time and was enough fun and informative for what we paid for. Great guide and tour. It started on time and was enough fun and informative for what we paid for.

I have long wanted to visit the favela to get to know life and the people in it. I am extremely pleased with our guide Felipe, who showed us and introduced us to all the problems of the community in Santa Maria. My family and I felt completely safe. I saw children of different ages. The students were neat and clean. There is also a kindergarten. People living in favelas are normal people like us who want to work and live honestly. Everyone who visits Rio must always visit the favela, because they and the people who live in them are part of Rio.Our guide Philippe was excellent he is very respectful of the community and informative of the history of the place I visited with my young children we was safe at all times I highly recommend you visit and buy some things along the way to support the wonderful community.
