We were lucky enough to be the only two people booked on the tour with Kaz. And wow, what a great experience. We went through the new market at Toyosu and the outer market at Tsukiji. What a great combination. It felt like maybe we got to see more because we were the only two on the tour. And the food, the fooooood! We started off with a citrusy bowl of chicken ramen, then proceeded to crush some tuna. The tuna bowl with rice was divine. The sweet egg tamago was so rich and flavorful. The huge pork dumpling was epic and we washed that down with some matcha. And if that wasn't enough we polished it all of with some strawberry topped mochi. All in all, it was a great 3 hours with Kaz. We would definitely try to do another tour on our next visit to Tokyo! Happy to write this review but as I stated in the title, you can save some time and just immediately book a tour. This was my first time ever in Japan and I immediately knew I wanted to wake up after the long flight and go on a food tour and see the amazing markets in Tokyo. Definitely patting myself on the back that I chose a tour with this company. Woke up feeling amazing and we met our charismatic, friendly, fun, smart, (did I mention fun?) tour guide Kaz. He greeted us with a giant smile and we were off. First to the new market which was great and found items you will only see in Japan. Kaz then purchased a bunch of food for us and we had a great snack outside the building. We then went to Tsukiji fish market which was much more hands on and Kaz navigated us through it like a pro. Seriously, this was the best way to start our trip and I am already thinking about my trip back where I will be seeing Kaz again for another tour. Among the many highlights was the marinated whale meat (I know....it sounds wrong but it was soooo right) and the insanely delicious tuna sashimi bowl which would have cost the price of the entire tour if we were in the states. Also, it was great that it ended up just being me and my three friends on the tour. It made us feel special and we got to see everything we wanted and then some. I even noted how frustrating it would be if we were in a large group and felt like a rock star weaving in and out of stalls with Kaz. We are a boisterous group and asked a million questions and wanted to try everything we saw. Kaz was so great in explaining what all the different types of fish were and did a great job of wrangling us when we tended to wander off as there is so much to see. The markets are a total sensation overload in the best possible way. Kaz kept telling me 'Don't worry. We will go there soon' and of course we did. Now that I'm writing this, I kind of want to take the same tour again but will probably go for the Izakaya one next trip. I only spent 9 days in Japan and there is so much more to see but taking this tour was the perfect start of what was a truly memorable trip. Thanks so much Kaz and we will see you sooner than later. My wife and I went on the fish market tour with Kaz on a Thursday morning in December - he was an extremely friendly and knowledgable guide, and went out of his way to show us as much of the market and nearby food stalls as possible. My wife and I went on the fish market tour with Kaz on a Thursday morning in December - he was an extremely friendly and knowledgable guide, and went out of his way to show us as much of the market and nearby food stalls as possible. The food was all excellent (and included in the price of the tour) and I would really recommend the tour to anyone with an interest in this sort of thing. To top off the already excellent tour, Kaz spent extra time with us at the end helping us buy a fish knife in one of the shops nearby (we don't speak any Japanese, so would never have been able to do it without him). In short, highly recommended! What a fantastic morning we had. The knowledge, laughs, insight and information provided on the tour made us wish we had done it earlier on our trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! This tour had Both old and new market. This is valuable to truly understand the fish market in Tokyo. It begins with a tour of the new market, this is informative, clean and interesting. There are many highly praised spots to dine, for future reference. Then you take a short and very easy bus ride to the old market. Without a guide, we would have been completely overwhelmed. It would have been extremely challenging to find the gems of so many options. Kaz was incredible in having us sample the best and local options. The tuna bowl for lunch was delicious and luxurious, even in its simplicity, amazing tuna!!! The tea shop was imaginative and so tasty. I had a black sesame cappuccino that is one of the best coffee drinks in my life. While walking through the indoor old market, Kaz selected snacks and juice to try. Kaz is an expert of the market in navigation, food, drink and even shops. We went to a terrific knife shop, where they even engrave for you. Maybe one of the best gifts(and I checked, you can pack them in suitcases). Obviously, I could go on and on...but you should just go for yourself. Lastly, Kaz is a warm, thoughtful, kind, intelligent, fun and a truly wonderful leader that we were thrilled to follow. A shame to miss.Kaz was a great host and we really enjoyed his friendliness and knowledge. He selected and provided us with some great dishes and his local knowledge made for a great experience and smooth and efficient run tour. Highly recommended.
