Stop At: Lawrence's Spring, Wadi Rum Jordan
The spring is at the top of a short scramble – head for the fig tree, located just 2km (1.2 miles) south-west of the village of Rum. The spring was named in honour of Lawrence’s evocative description in the Seven Pillars of Wisdom: ‘’In front of us a path, pale with use, zigzagged up the cliff-plinth…From between [the] trees, in hidden crannies of the rock, issued strange cries; the echoes, turned into music, of the voices of the Arabs watering camels at the springs which flowed out three hundred feet above ground’’. Although the pool itself is largely unprepossessing, being a stagnant puddle, the views across the desert are truly spectacular.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Al Ramal Red Sand Dune, GCHC+XHG street, Wadi Rum Village, Jordan
Among the vast expanses of rust-coloured sand in the Wadi Rum desert, the Red Sand Dune, or ‘Al Hasany’ in Arabic, is one of the most famous ones. Officially named Al Ramal it has become better known by its descriptive name. It stands out against a cliff side like it is part of the mountain. Coloured red by the presence of iron oxide, this dune is fine and soft underfoot making it perfect to walk up barefoot!
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Wadi Rum Safari Camp, Wadi Rum Protected Area, Wadi Rum Village, Jordan
Khazali Canyon in Wadi Rum is the site of petroglyphs etched into the cave walls depicting humans and antelopes dating back to the Thamudic times. This narrow canyon contains numerous Nabataean rock carvings of people and animals.
Jebel Khazali, a peak situated in the center of Wadi Rum Protected Area opens up in a narrow fissure of about 100 m length. Its inner walls are covered with Thamudic, Nabatean, and Islamic inscriptions, as well petroglyphs depicting humans and animals. Remarkable are the soles of feet petroglyphs, which probably had religious significance. In 1932 the French epigraphist Savignac noted the engravings in the cleft and published some of them in 1934.
The petroglyphs and inscriptions of Khazali Siq form an impressive collection being one of the major tourist attractions in Wadi Rum. At the end of the canyon, there are several man-made rock-cut basins for water collection.

Stop At: Wadi Rum Protected Area, Wadi Rum Jordan
Little Rock Bridge:
Easy to climb, this bridge offers great views across a broad expanse of desert. It is easily accessible and not dangerous, it is perfect for families with children and people who feel less comfortable with heights under their feet.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Lawrence's House, Wadi Rum Village, Wadi Rum Jordan
Nobody is certain that this was Lawrence’s house, although there are stories that he both stayed and/or stored weapons here. The current structure is built upon the remains of a Nabataean building, however, and it’s another beautiful spot in the desert. There is little left of this building, erected on the Nabataean ruins of a water cistern. Nonetheless, legend has it that Lawrence stayed here during the Arab Revolt and that makes it a must on the regular 4WD circuits of the area. Near the building is a Nabataean inscription that mentions the area’s ancient name of Iram. The remote location and uninterrupted view of the red sand dunes are the main attractions.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Wadi Rum Protected Area, Wadi Rum Jordan
Stop for lunch (Gallaya, Hummus, Tuna, Salad, Jordanian bread, Juice).
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Mushroom Rock, صخره الفطره، Wadi Rum Village, Jordan
Sometimes nature performs small miracles. One of them is the Mushroom Rock. Over the centuries, rain and winds have carved this sandstone and gave it the shape of mushroom.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Burdah Rock Bridge, FFFX+CX7, Wadi Rum Village, Jordan
The largest of Rum’s three arches is the Burdah Rock Bridge, precariously perched about 80m above the surrounding rock. There’s a precipitous hike to the summit. It’s height and location offers one of the most terrific sunsets you will ever experience.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Wadi Rum Protected Area, Wadi Rum Jordan
The White Desert is located near the Saudi border, 40 km south of Wadi Rum village. The landscape is similar to the Wadi Rum desert, but the sand is white. It is also an amazing place to see the sunset from.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Abu Khashaba Canyon, FFVC+95J, Wadi Rum Village, Jordan
Wild fig trees and desert bushes among huge rocks and red and yellow sand make this canyon unique. Abu Khashaba Canyon is one of the canyons that are worth to visit and you will need about an hour to walk through.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Um Frouth Rock Arch, FC9X+GM4, Wadi Rum Village, Jordan
A lower rock bridge which is featured on many tours and can be easily scrambled onto. The climbing takes 5-15 minutes (depending on your experience) and the view that it offers to the surrounding area is amazing.

The full day tour is the best way to go! In brief: this is the most complete tour! You should pick this company because they offered us water all day (we didn't bring enough) and tea and cookies around bonfire, our jeep out of all the other companies jeeps was THE ONLY ONE with a sort of covering thing so that we didn't sunburnt. Our guide Bacar spoke great english (because he watches american movies) which makes a difference because you understand better things about culture etc. Plus, their camp base is great: it's clean, the beds are very confortable. Also, they are very flexible with their tour arrangements: you can easily chat with them on whatsapp and see if you can start with sleeping in a bedouin tent first and then start the tour the day after or plan as it best suits you! Feras, which is the owner, is a really nice and calm person. He is very welcoming! If you are a western person like me you may notice he doesn't smile as much as we would, but it's because Jordan people are smiling inside! It's ok, they are not annoyed at you, we just express it differently! LOL Anyway here's and extended version of the review: The eight hour tour involved: Lawrence Spring (which has no water! I was dumb enough to think there would be water, sorry), we climbed on top of a Red Sand Dune to look around a panoramic view, we looked for inscriptions in Khazali Canyon, we took great pictures on top of Little Rock Bridge, we also went to Lawrence’s House but he wasn’t there lol, we enjoyed playing volleyball at Mushroom Rock, we posed again on top of the Burdah Rock Bridge, we explored the Abu Khashaba Canyon, we were to tired to walk to the top of the Umm Fruth Rock Bridge but we looked at it while drinking tea, eventually we enjoyed the sunset on top of a hill. It was very fun to cook lunch in the shade of a canyon, the bedouin way. Our guide, Bacar instructed us how to light the fire. Then he put on a pot and he thought us how to cook this bedouin dish made of tomatoes, chicken and other species. It was delicious and overall fun to be involved in the preparation of the meal. Almost every stop along the tour had some kind of tent where we could rest and have some complementary tea and cookies around a bonfire. A break was really welcome sometimes after posing for photos on bridges and rocks all day, of course! A great fun part of the tour is riding in the back of the jeep. If you get a good driver like our Bacar it’s super fun! Plus, we were the only jeep that had a sort of tent on top, so we were always in the shade while the other tourists were getting sunburnt. Lucky us! What I took home with me, in my heart, was the stunning scenery. It really does look like Mars. I didn’t expect the desert to look like this, at all. It has towering rock formations, red sand dunes, and narrow canyons. In the shade can be quite chilly, if i had a sweater I would wear it! It was really interesting as well learning about the Bedouin culture that has thrived in this harsh environment for centuries. After sunset we went back to campbase where a Jordan dinner awaited us. After that we chatted a bit around a bonfire while drinking tea. I think what made a great difference was that our guide, Bacar, spoke english really well so we were able to ask plenty of questions about the whole bedouin culture. At night, after enjoying the starry sky for a bit, we slept in Bedouin tents. I’m not a camping person: there were real beds, real mattresses with two soft and plushy blankets and comfortable pillows. The tent was floor to ceiling covered in some traditional Bedouin red and black geometric designs. This is called “sadu”, often created using a technique called horizontal tapestry weaving.Staying in the desert under the stars, is an experience you will never forget. Incredible landscapes. We also tasted local delicacies from the Bedouin who accompanied us on this adventure. absolutely safe destination and experience. I recommend it to everyone without exception!

This review is nothing against our driver but rather the organisation and company itself. We rang ahead as we were running late, firstly it seemed they had no recollection of our booking. When we arrived we were greeted with no explanation of the tour and rushed into the truck. It was only us on the tour and was told there would be no rush, we asked to use the toilets before we left and was told to get in the jeep first, we were then drove to the first point of the tour and told we would have to go behind a rock (bearing in mind it’s very busy and the rock would not provide any privacy!). We were told nothing about any of the points we stopped at, other than it was a rock or a sand dune etc and told to climb up it, take photos and come back when we were finished. The driver drove dangerously, which was proven by his smashed windscreen. All of the other jeeps were driving a reasonable speed where you would be comfortable, he was overtaking all of them and we had to hold on for dear life. We booked to stay overnight, to then be told they had no booking for us. We arrive to the camp and wait nearly 2 hours for them to give us a tent. There were no explanations of anything other than what we were having for dinner, no authentic experience at all. Everyone just sat in pretty much silence after dinner waiting for something else to happen, but it never did. We felt rushed and as though they didn’t care about our experience, our driver even admitted he isn’t good at tours and doesn’t speak good English. So why were we given him as a tour guide for a tour we paid a lot of money for?? The only good things were the lunch and beautiful surroundings which we got little time to enjoy as it was so hectic. The rent and facilities were clean. Highly disappointed as I had such high hopes for this day in our trip and thought it would be one of the best, turned out to be my least favourite day and I definitely would not book with this company to explore wadi rum! Again nothing against our driver Ali as he did the best he could, but it wasn’t the experience we paid or hoped for.The best part of this whole adventure. Camp excellent, hosts great. Greetings to our King of the desert, and the whole team. You're the best.
