This was a disaster! We'd booked this trip several weeks ago while still in the UK. We were told that we'd be picked up from our hotel on Santa Cruz between 07:40 and 08:00. Well, 08:00 came and went, as did 08:15 and 08:30. At about 08:35 our hotel reception received a call from the tour operator to say they'd be with us shortly. An 09:00, a representative from the tour company arrived and bundled us into a taxi. We were driven at breakneck speed from Puerto Ayora to Itabaca Channel at the northern tip of the island - the taxi driver had obviously been told to get us there as fast as possible. However, upon arrival at the port, there was no boat waiting for us! Our taxi driver called the tour operator, who informed my partner that there actually wasn't a place for us on the tour! So, we were drive back to Puerto Ayora - a bit more slowly this time, as I guess the pressure was off. We were met by a different representative from the tour operator, who told us that the boat owner had sold our two places to someone else! Now, we'd booked this tour nearly two months in advance, so how we weren't confirmed right from the start I don't know.
An absolute shambles, from start to finish!!!
