I cannot say enough great things about this tour. I would not hesitate to tell anyone and everyone to take it. El Salvador Positive Tours and our guide Francis were amazing. We began the day departing our hotel in San Salvador at 5:30am. You will need to leave early since it will take roughly 5 hours each way to drive to Copan. This tour also includes multiple border crossings since you drive through Guatemala and must exit and enter the country multiple times. Francis was great at all 8 times we had to go through border control on the outgoing and return trip. He was also a delight in the long car ride sharing his passion for El Salvador, Mayan history, and the region in general. This made the time pass rather quickly in the long car ride. Upon arrival in Copan we meet with a local guide who lives in the area who gave the wife and I (along with Francis) a great tour of the ruins. We learned a lot. A highlight of the ruins the Macaws that live there. They are stunning and we happened to be there when the ranger was feeding the birds. They let you get really close and are a sight to see in person. After the ruins Francis took us to a great restaurant in town. Very tasty food at a great price. We also took some time to get some local chocolate at a shop in the downtown area. We then head out back to cross multiple borders and returned to the hotel around 7:30 pm. This is truly a great tour and a great chance to see the Copan ruins in a safe and affordable way. You also get to experience the amazing views of the Guatemala countryside. I am a very experienced travel but I would have struggled to accomplish this trip without a local guide. This is worth the money and time!It was a long but awesome trip (we crossed Guatemala and Honduras twice each). My guide Francis was great. We left SS early and we had breakfast along the way. We skipped the Macaw place because of lack of time. We got back to SS almost 10 PM under a heavy rain. I highly recommend taking this tri...

We skipped the Macaw place because of lack of time. We got back to SS almost 10 PM under a heavy rain. I highly recommend taking this trip especially if you are going on a group. I travelled solo which is great too. I highly recommend Francis and El Salvador Positive Tours. Great experience!Everyone should take this tour! Gabi was an amazing guide.
