Fushimi Inari Hidden Hiking Tour
Overview
Even though there is Fushi-inari station, we start the tour from Tofukuji station because we enter Fushi-inari shrine from back side of main entrance.
-Journey into a secret bamboo forest
We will discover a natural bamboo forest, and a small Inari shrine hidden from tourists. Fushimi Inari's main entrance is hard to navigate due to a lot of people, but by walking through the mountains, we will see Fushimi Inari from a new perspective, away from the crowd.
-Return to civilization after a breathtaking view atop the mountains of Fushimi Inari
From here on, we will explore tourist areas on the way to the top of the mountain. Tour routes may vary, but it will end somewhere around the main shrine.

Book this now! We avoided major crowds and had the sweetest guide Nobu who not only guided us thoughtfully on a rainy morning hike but recommended other amazing things in cities we were traveling to after. The whole hike and each shrine was MAGICAL. We highly recommend taking this hike Nobu was FANTASTIC. We really enjoyed all the stories, education and thoughtful guiding she provided on a wet morning hike. It was a magical journey that we are so pleased we found here on Airbnb.met at an easily recognisable location. great tour guide Shiori, very knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful of the group’s pace.
met at an easily recognisable location. great tour guide Shiori, very knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful of the group’s pace.Really great tour with Akiko! The shrine can be very crowded so having a guide to give you more information about what you're seeing and take you off the beaten track whilst still seeing the key sights is invaluable.

The hike started off with an unmarked trail that eventually led us to the main Fushimi Inari loop. Shiori was a super friendly guide with great English who was super happy to share a lot of historical context on the tour. We got unfettered access to a good number of torii gates (no crowds!) and access to two(!) similarly empty bamboo groves. Come prepared for a hike! I would've liked a few more planned opportunities to stop for photos (only one or two were built into the tour) but our group was more than happy to accommodate me and everyone else as-needed.We started our tour near a "hidden" entrance to Fushimi Inari where we were the only people there, so it was great seeing a popular tourist destination nice and quiet.
