Golden Rock Day Return Tour with English Speaking Driver
Overview
The day return trip to the Golden Rock near Kyaikhtiyo is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for Myanmar Buddhists. The gold-leaf-covered boulder is said to maintain its balance thanks to a single hair of the Buddha being enshrined inside the pagoda. From the pagoda, you can observe the pilgrims devout in prayers or applying gold leaf to the boulder, while enjoying a spectacular view of the valley below.

When I joined the tour, it was rainy. I was the only one for the tour so it was private tour. The tour started 6 A.M or around at the lobby of my hotel. The mini-van to the Golden rock temple was Toyota's spacious mini-van, it was very comfortable for solo tour. The driver, Mr. Hein Zoy from Myanmer FlyOwl (travel agency )was also the English speaking guide and he prepared rain coat and umbrella. He was very kind and took care of me, I didn't ask so much about the history or tradition of the temple/Myanmar so I don't know if he has enough knowledge but at least he made the best effort to make me enjoyed the tour in hard rainy day. When in the temple it was rainy and windy so I slipped many times with bare foot during in the temple site so you must be careful when it rains because we are not allowed to enter holy place with shoes. The place for lunch was nice, spicy but I am Asian so I really liked local Myanmar food. Totally I was satisfied with the tour and the driver and his attitude. Was picked up on time and early. My wife, son and I had an unusual but great day trip to the Golden Rock with Viator. The rock itself does not have much significance to me but we enjoyed the truck ride up and down. It was an unusual experience. The trip was made greater because of our English speaking guide, Ko Hein. He was knowledgeable and most pleasant sharing his life experiences and the place of visit. Great job, Hasy(hope I spelt his English name correctly)!
