What to expect
This rental is intended for those who know how to kitesurf independently and can ride upwind. It includes up to four hours of rental of the board, harness, lines, bar and kite at Barkers Beach, Barkers National Park, West Bay. There is a wide range of kite options to suit the wind conditions of the day.
The beach offers expansive, flat water kiting and is perfect for cruising or doing jumps and tricks. Feel free to inquire about advanced lessons for jumping or other skills. Complimentary pickup and drop-off from hotels and other accommodation in Seven Mile Beach, West Bay or George Town areas is provided.

My friend and I were staying with friends on Grand Cayman this week, and we went to Barker's Beach, where Kitesurf Cayman offers lessons. We weren't sure we were going to take lessons, but after experiencing how helpful John and his instructors were, I decided I wanted to go ahead and take a lesson. Unlike a lot of kite schools, John and Javier and Edwin and Luis (where were a couple others, but I didn't talk with them) help you because they are at the location and they care about your safety. They don't help you because they want your money, they help you because they are just awesome guys. They launch kiters, they land kiters, and they'll even answer your questions regardless of whether you're paying for a lesson or not. It's kinda awesome, and we felt so much safer being on the beach with them. I took a jump lesson from Luis--my first ever--and I was jumping in no time. It was pretty amazing. Luis did a great job explaining and demonstrating the moves for me. I had watched him and the other instructors jumping earlier in the week, and I knew they were talented kiters, but you don't always know if someone is going to be a good instructor. Luis was great, and the friends we were staying with said the same about John and Edwin. Another kiter taking lessons earlier that week told me that Javier was great too. If you're going to take lessons, take them from Kitesurf Cayman because they they are amazing kiters, they know how to teach you, and they are so helpful to everyone on the beach. You want to support a business like John's -- which is clearly built on a love for the sport and concern for other people's safety.Chafffamilytravels

We had heard that Barkers was a great place to kitesurf and based on Trip Advisor reviews we signed up with Jhon and his team at Kitesurf Cayman. Jhon was very responsive when I emailed/called to arrange equipment and lessons for our family. We were each at 3 different levels which might have been complicated for some small operations, but not for Kitesurf Cayman. The sailing area is very good for beginners and also for more advanced kite surfing. There isn't any boat traffic to avoid and it's quite shallow for standing in many places. There is plenty of room so that no one really gets in anyone else's way. The instructors had us use radio helmets so that you can hear them while you are not next to them on the water. We were skeptical at first but they worked great! The instruction was excellent and I personally improved greatly! Thanks so much to Kitesurf Cayman for some great days on the water!656alistairc

I can not recommend these guys highly enough! My son took his first lesson and had a great time. Very safe, very professional and not to mention great instructors! I rented gear for the day and had an awesome session. The location is total paradise, kiting with stingray’s in the most beautiful waters I’ve ever seen. I am already looking to go back, but the next time will be a longer stay! The guys were super regarding pickup and drop off for the cruise. Very good communication, very reliable so completely stress free - made for the perfect day out!! The beach is a little narrow, so make sure you give yourself enough room when you come in for landing.......Zoombaf15

Great experience from start To finish. You will need to work with a gentlemen named “Chris” for your booking and he will step you through everything to include transportation. They do a really nice job of setting it all up once you get in contact them. They were on time to pick us up and got us to the spot at Barkers. All new gear, allot of instructors and helpers all over the place helping out. They get you set up fast. The instruction was the best I’ve ever had. JOHN gave me lessons in Italian while my son had his lessons in English. They can also conduct lessons in Spanish. Overall - John, Chris, Dan , And Giovanni did a super job . The last thing that really set them apart what the radio helmets. We had some shifty winds the 2nd day I went and my instructor did 4 Kite changes in minutes each time. He really wanted me to have the best equipment at every minute. Since they all In radio contact and there seem to be allot of instructors I would turn around and booom there would be another new kite for me. Even with all this going on they had time to send yet another instructor in a boat to save someone that was foiling and had gotten in trouble pretty far out. I don’t think he was part of the training we were doing but they went to get him anyway. They keep an eye on anyone in the area it seemed. Great job guys . We will be back for sure.dt22

Second visit to Cayman and brought my kite gear with me. Family trip and my son has been wanting to learn for a few years now. Signed him up effortlessly through kitesurfcayman.com and received immediate responses from the owner Jhon and his man on the beach Chris. Both could not be nicer and accommodating! My sons lesson was with Edwin, and let me tell you if you want to learn this sport the fun, safe absolute right way take a few private lessons with this crew. They absolutely know their stuff and will progress the student through each step as they're ready. My son had a little experience flying a trainer kite and under Edwins supervision was flying a real kite within 10 minutes. 15 minutes later he was riding a board on the beautiful Cayman waters feeling confident safe and well informed. My sons lesson ended with him riding both ways and almost staying upwind (which is the goal in kiting). He was so excited and progressed so quickly I cant recommend the lesson enough. Fortunately the guys had some room the following day and we booked another 2 hour lesson. Same deal with safety first and progressing as the student is ready. Edwin again, reiterated lesson 1 and kept pushing my son to get to the next level. needless to say we left Cayman with my son edging upwind and understanding transitions and getting it done! Incredible and thankful, can't wait to kite with my son back home after 2 well worth private lessons. These guys are the real deal! If you are a kiter and in the Caymans you need to get out to Barkers and visit the guys at Kitesurf Caymen!198estephanie

In just 5 solo lessons Jhon and his crew had me feeling confident and going upwind. They provided amazing instruction and were able to customize everything to address the issues I was having to ensure I was able to progress easily and efficiently. Once I graduated from solo training and was just renting equipment they even kept an eye on me and helped me out when I needed it. If you want to learn to kitesurf I highly recommend you book with Kitesurf Cayman! They will take good care of you and ensure you have a great time. Thanks so much guys; best week ever!
