Spent a good amount of time on the glacier. So cool to see the turquoise color of the ice and the water flowing on it and through it and under it. And to see the interesting shapes in the crevasses that the melting ice makes. Guide was excellent.

We are in our early 70s and the guide Anne paced the walk beautifully with stops for informative briefings and to view crevasses.

Our experience was a quite unfortunate one. May I preface by saying that I am partly at fault. My family came to Alberta for vacation. I made a reservation for my son to participate in the half day Athabasca Glacier hike. I had my own written itinerary and messed up the days, thus, my son missed the reservation on 8/9, as I thought it was for 8/10. I spoke with one of your reps who would not allow him to join the available 10 am the following day. Could any allowances been made for this once in a lifetime experience. I was very saddened by this. Perhaps, in the future, something could be done for such an error if space is allowed. Should there be room to be more flexible on your part?Fabulous guided hike up the glacier with our guide Adam. Fabulous guided hike up the glacier with our guide Adam. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining glaciers and the Columbia Icefield to our group. We were traveling with our family of 5 (3 teens), there was an older man, maybe in his mid 60’s, a woman in her 20’s and another family of 5 with 3 younger kids around 8-12 years old. Adam kept a nice pace for the entire group and took regular breaks along the way. There’s a bit of an uphill climb to get to the glacier before you don your crampons. Definitely skip the tram bus and take the guided glacier walk where you get up close and personal with the glacier. We even tasted a chunk of glacier ice (tastes like snow). Highly recommend this trip!
