Rodiber's guided walk of Monteverde cloud forest was just great. He speaks English well and his knowledge is great. We were lucky to spot a Quetzal. There were a ton of tourists as it was Christmas week and I am sure only a few got to see the Quetzal - that's the advantage of having a good guide. We asked Rodiber to arrange a horseback sunset ride for us and it was just memorable. The horseback ride starts/ends within a few hundred meters of the best spot in Monteverde to see the sunset. So right after the ride, we hurried back to see the sunset till dark. And even if it is cloudy, the view is still a once in a lifetime view. On our own, we would not have had such a great experience. My thanks and sincere gratitude to Rodiber. There are some sloths around the town in the wild. Rodiber tried hard but we could not find one. You may get lucky, but it is quite hard (Kindly do not visit Sloths in captivity paying $20-30 pp that are all over the place in CR. Only see them in an animal sanctuary or rescue centers or try your luck in the wild).Monteverde was our first stop in Costa Rica -- we were eager to see the forest and animals and had a great experience with Rodiber. Monteverde was our first stop in Costa Rica -- we were eager to see the forest and animals and had a great experience with Rodiber. He was friendly, knowledgeable and went out of his way to include our young teen. We learned so much about the animals and plants, as well as the local geography (including the continental divide!). We saw sloths, lots of different birds, incuding 6 types of hummingbirds, coatis, funnel spiders, and more.Friendly, professional and great with kids Has deep knowledge of fauna and flora and likes to answer questions that he didn’t expect. Viewing the beautiful quetzal flying in and out of the nest to feed the young was amazing.

Costa Rica’s biodiversity is breathtaking. Every inch of space is utilized effectively by plants of various types adapted to living in the rainforest. Tree trunks bear hundreds of Bromeliads, orchids and ferns and fallen trees become substrate for new life. On our first day in Monteverde, we did a guided tour of the Monteverde cloud forest; our guide Rodiber Martinez lead us on a journey of discovery. He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the land, spoke excellent English and was very receptive to questions. We told him that our goal for the tour was to see toucans and catch glimpses of the quetzals in the cloud forest if possible. Nature is unpredictable and we felt very fortunate to see a nesting pair of quetzals in the Monteverde cloud forest as they took turns to fetch food for the chick. Rodiber captured great memories on our phones while we stood in awe at the quetzals. We were so thrilled, we asked Rodiber to guide us on a tour to Curicancha reserve the next day, where he sought out a bird call and lo and behold it was the colorful keel billed toucan we had been waiting to see. We saw many more birds and a family of Coatis resting high in the trees. All in all it was a fantastic tour, a must see for a nature lover! My family and I took a guided tour with Rodibert this weekend and it exceeded our expectations. My family and I took a guided tour with Rodibert this weekend and it exceeded our expectations. Our trip took almost 4 hours, in which he was very patient to make sure we could see everything the park had to offer and answer our inquiries. He was very helpful, he helped us to take videos and pictures of the different animals and plants. In his tour he also offers many interesting facts. I would definitely suggest hiring him during your next trip.
