Stop At: Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids, Al Giza Desert, Saqqara 12919 Egypt
Located approximately 30 km south of modern-day Cairo, Saqqara is a vast, ancient burial ground in Egypt with the world's oldest standing step pyramid. It's the first stop on our private day tour from Cairo, and certainly is an impressive way to start the day. Designed by Imhotep for King Djoser (c.2667-2648 BC), the Step Pyramid is the oldest complete stone-hewn building complex known in history, and is surrounded by other small pyramids dating back to the 5th and 6th Dynasties.
Although Saqqara was eclipsed as the burial ground of royalty by Giza and the Valley of the Kings in Thebes (near Luxor), it remained an important complex for burials and cult ceremonies for more than 3, 000 years.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Temple de Ptah - Memphis, طريق الجيزة - الأقصر ميت رهينة،، Mit Rahinah, Badrshein, Giza Governorate 3366203, Egypt
Next up, we're off to Memphis, which functioned as the ancient capital of Lower Egypt and of the Old Kingdom of Egypt from its foundation until around 2200 BC. The modern towns of Dahshur and Saqqara lie within the administrative borders of historical Memphis. Wander around, explore, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of some really, really old cities. Careful not to stand in place for too long - you might mummify!
Duration: 2 hours

The tour highlights was being able to get very close to the Step pyramid and the huge statue of Ramses lying on the ground. Mohamed was very knowledgeable about the various monuments and generous with explanations; very pleased with his assistance in taking pics. Really enjoyed thanks! This really is a tour not to be missed. What a fantastic introduction to Egyptian history! Our Urban Adventure guide had an absolute wealth of knowledge and was so excited to share what he knew. We had decided to stay an extra few days in Cairo and we were so pleased that we did. This tour was a highlight for us. We loved the easy going nature of Shrouk (she takes great pictures as well!!!!) her knowledge of the history and culture and her ability to be able to make us feel that much closer to the time period we were discovering. Both Shrouk and the driver were accomodating, I had wanted to take pictures of some date trees and they found a family who were harvesting the dates and allowed us to visit with them and take photos of their farm! Definitely ask for Shrouk as your guide! This was a fantastic 1/2 day tour for those who really enjoy Egyptian History. The Step Pyramid and Mymphis where where it all began and our guide Shrouke was so knowledgeable in Egyptian history and really enjoyed sharing her knowledge. Highly recommend Simon

Fascinating sites. Don't miss the friezes inside the Tomb of Kagemni. My guide Mohammed E (it became a private tour because no one else had booked that day) gave a great overview of Egyptian history, and also answered questions about current events. At the sites he gave great information about what we were seeing. At my request, he had me dropped off near the Coptic area instead of the hotel, and gave many helpful suggestions about what to see and how to get around. Would give him a rating higher than 5 stars if I could.Myself and 3 others went on a half day tour to Saqqara and Dashur through Intrepid and had a great time. Myself and 3 others went on a half day tour to Saqqara and Dashur through Intrepid and had a great time. Our tour guide, Shrouk, was full of knowledge and very accommodating, making us feel very comfortable and welcome from the moment we met her. We had just finished a 12 day tour of Egypt and these 2 locations were the last on our to-do list. We had our hesitations in booking the tour given we were quite fatigued from the previous touring, however we were glad we made the effort as Saqqara and Dashur are incredible sites and the pyramids are notably different to the ones in Giza. Be sure to add this to your list of things to do and see, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Shrouk
