This is a great tour for those that don’t want the typical tour. Winter picked me up from my hotel and took me straight to a local wet market where he happily answered all my questions and provided lots of information about what was there and how things are used. He was more then happy to buy things for me to try along the way. After the market, we took a relaxing stroll through some Buddhist temples, second hand markets and a Chinese medicine centre where he explained all the items used. We then headed to the nunnery, where Winter gave me the run down on correct protocol of eating there. This was truly the highlight of the tour. Traditional home cooked food served in a temple by nuns. The food was absolutely delicious and from what I’m told changes daily. After lunch, Winter took me to a local Taoist temple for tea. This was a great experience because this is where the locals drink tea and I felt like a local. After a good chat and lots of tea Winter helped me get back to my hotel. This tour is fantastic for those that don’t want the tour experience that has the guide with a flag and very structured. This is for those that want the unique, relaxing and mingle with the locals experience. I would highly recommend! This tour was amazing. This tour was amazing. Our guide Winter took us to the old town of Chengdu to see the local market. The photos we made there were just awesome, so was the experience and the guidesness. Winter is a wonderful guide, fluid in English and excellent in explaining local traditions and China’s culture. We tried all sorts of food there from local vendors: fresh spring rolls, rice wine, deliscious noodlles and even participated in rolling Chinese dumplings. At the market we saw so many Chinese specialities- the snake fish, frogs, different Sechuan spices, century eggs, sesame paste and so much more. Winter also herpes us choose a good and reasonably priced green tea at the local vendor. After the market we visited the Monastery and had lunch at the nunnary, which was also an amazing experience. And at the end we went to a local tea house and enjoyed the best green tea while watching the locals and listening to Winter explaining how to drink tea correctly. I would highly recommend this tour, definately an experience I will never forget. We started at a local food market and learned a lot about local specialities. Then we visited a nunnery and participated in the lunch ceremony. The tour ended in a local tea house. I would highly recommend doing a tour with Winter, he gives you lots of interesting and fun facts!

We had an amazing day with ocean. The market tour was really nice and interesting and the lunch was great and a very interesting experience. The best part of our day buy far was our AMAZING guide - ocean. She has the best English we met in china, her guidance was interesting and very well directed to our interests and she is a great person to sit around and chat with. Even though we made a booking mistake and booked the day before we intended- ocean didn't do us any trouble or even mention it. Well worth the money. Very very recommended. Don't forget to ask for ocean (:We are a group of three people from Thailand. We all agree this was the highlight of our Chengdu trip as we got to experience so much local culture. We are a group of three people from Thailand. We all agree this was the highlight of our Chengdu trip as we got to experience so much local culture. The local market, which was hidden from the main streets, was full of interesting things to see. The lunch in a nunnery canteen was cool. We loved watching people there. Our guide Winter is knowledgeable and showed us many things we would have missed if we went there by ourselves. He speaks good English and, surprisingly, Thai as well! We have been living in Southern China and we are usually very wary of organized tours in China because they are often overly touristic, but this was not the case here! We loved our guide Ocean. She is smart, funny, and insightful. Her English is also really good. Her tour through the market was really interesting, even for someone who has already seen a ton of Chinese markets. Going through them with Ocean was really interesting, she explained and pointed out interesting foods and explains how they are made. The lunch at the nunnery was the most interesting experience. It is clearly not something done for tourists, as its you, the nuns, and a bunch of locals. it's a really authentic, local, experience. The tour is great for vegetarians, and, even for those with other allergies. I can't eat gluten, and Ocean was very helpful in identifying food that I could eat (there was more than I thought!) I didn't expect to eat at all and I was a bit unsure of how the tour would be if I couldn't eat, but she was so helpful. When making spring rolls at a local stall she had the woman put a bunch of vegetables and some sauces in a plastic bag for me to eat instead of wrapping it in the wheat wrapper. We couldn't have imagined a better tour. The tea was also a highlight! It's hard to even pick the best part! Highly Recomend it!
