Stop At: Masham, Masham, North Yorkshire, England
We head off to Lower Wenslydale, with your Tour Guide telling you about the history and features of the area. The first stop is at the traditional market town of Masham in Lower Wensleydale, which gained its market charter over 700 years ago in 1251. Here you can learn some of the Town’s history from your guide and see the remains of an Anglo-Saxon cross shaft, thought to be around 1300 years old, at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, explore the quaint shops or just enjoy a leisurely Yorkshire brew and some cake in one of the cafes on the square – the choice is yours!
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Grassington, Grassington, Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire, England
Heading across Masham Moor where the sheep roam freely amongst the Heather and vast open landscape on our way over the tops to Nidderdale. The fantastic views and scenery over Gouthwaite Reservoir and miles of drystone walls make it perfect for some great photo stops. We arrive at the picturesque town of Grassington, famous for its role as the fictional town of ‘Darrowby’ in the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ television series, first aired in 2020. Here you will have 1.5 hours free time to explore the shops, Cafes and filming locations or even pop into the Devonshire Arms pub (The Drovers in All Creatures Great and Small) for a drink with the locals!
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Linton Falls, Station Rd, Yorkshire Dales National Park, Grassington England
We depart Grassington and make our way to the beautiful Linton Falls. It is only a very short drive away so, if you prefer, you have the option to take the short walk from the Visitor Centre car park down the old stone path to the falls at Linton and meet your guide on the bridge over the river Wharfe.
Duration: 25 minutes
Stop At: Bolton Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire, England
The main afternoon stop is at Bolton Abbey, where entry is free and you will be able to explore the Priory Church and ruins of the 12th Century Augustinian Priory in its beautiful riverside setting, or maybe take the stepping stones challenge if you are feeling more adventurous!
Duration: 45 minutes
Pass By: Harrogate, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England
We leave Bolton Abbey to continue our journey through the Dales back towards York, passing through Harrogate and learning a bit about the history of this famous spa town.

We took a tour through the Yorkshire Dales with Chris, and it was wonderful! He was very informative, accommodating, and friendly. He went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.

Our driver for the private tour was Chris - so knowledgeable about the area - extremely well versed in all things from the history that goes back centuries to little known facts about the Bronte family. We never felt rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the entire day as we were driven along narrow country lanes, the rolling countryside and lovely villages. Highly recommend!!This was a very enjoyable day trip. I booked it primarily as a way to get out to Haworth, as I am very interested in the Brontes. This was a very enjoyable day trip. I booked it primarily as a way to get out to Haworth, as I am very interested in the Brontes. While I liked touring the Bronte Parsonage Museum, I found, much to my delight, that all of the stops we made were just as enjoyable. I especially liked the Bolton Abbey ruins, and the brief stop we had in the picturesque village of Linton. There was ample time spent at every stop, including Haworth. I never felt rushed the entire day. Our driver Chris was friendly and very knowledgeable, as well as being considerate of his passengers. (I am a museum docent, and know it takes a lot of skill to keep a group engaged for as many hours as Chris did. He is a pro at his job) The small bus used on the tour was very clean, with comfortable seats and big windows. It made the "ride" as enjoyable as the stops. This turned out to be the best of all the days I spent in York. If you are looking for a day trip with a smaller sized group, I highly recommend BOBH Tours, and the Haworth Yorkshire Dales tour especially. In spite of the bad weather our trip to Haworth and the Yorkshire Dales was very enjoyable. Chris, our driver and guide has a fun personality. He was full of interesting information throughout the entire trip. The landscape is so beautiful and varied through the small towns and the countryside dales. One highlight was the Bronte Parsonage and Museum. It is not to be missed. It is full of information about the Bronte sisters and their family. It is fascinating history. Chris, our driver, made it especially exciting and memorable because he also drove us to the moors near the Bronte house, where the sisters used to walk. We walked through the moors and he gave a short reading from Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. How appropriate! There was plenty of time for our stop at Haworth and our lunch break. Along the way we had sufficient time for getting out of the bus at various scenic spots along the way. We totally recommend the tour.
