A friend who is an experienced biker was visiting Kuala Lumpur for the first time so I arranged for Bike with Elena to take him on two tours. The first was the Kuala Lumpur Sunset and Night tour which starts from the car park at MaTIC 109 Jalan Ampang at 6pm (1800hrs). MaTIC is the Malaysia Tourism Centre and is located not far from the Petronus Towers. It is in fact Bus Stop 16 on the Hop On Hop Off Bus that tours around KL and Petronus is Bus Stop 15 but you can go to MaTIC by taxi or by phoning a Grab Car. The tour takes about 2 ½ hours and Elena explains each of the various local places visited and shows great depth of knowledge about locations and Kuala Lumpur in general. It is a very worthwhile tour to get a feel for the city, the people and the country. The second tour was the Waterfall Countryside Ride which took us a long way out of KL into the beautiful countryside. Elena picked my friend up at his hotel at 6.30am (0630hrs) in her truck and drove out of town to start this 7 hours bike tour. It was wonderful. It is about a 46 kilometre bike ride that is not too challenging but gives a good workout along with village scenery, rolling hills and a refreshing stop at a waterfall. I would highly recommend Elena to any biker visiting Kuala Lumpur. She is a delightful host and extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of issues. Sitting chatting with her over a cup of coffee was a highlight of my visit to KL. Get in touch with her directly and I am sure you will not regret it.It was our second tour that we did with Elen. It was our second tour that we did with Elen. This one was a countryside tour. The tour was amazing, we met so many interesting people and seen beautiful places. We had a very tasty breakfast at local market, lunch was in villages restaurant and the peak of the food were the dumplings from local family shop. The tour itself was a great and so is Elen. We have seen a traditional malasyan houses and also a wooden houses in the village. We met some families and they showed us a little part of their life. We have also visited a green tea plantage and buddhistic temple. Big thank you Elen, hopefully we will see you againIf you want a guide who is attentive and personable and yet resourceful and efficient, you cannot ask for anyone better than Elena. If you want a guide who is attentive and personable and yet resourceful and efficient, you cannot ask for anyone better than Elena. My wife and I met her at MATIC and unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances of our own, we were unable to actually bike through KL. Seeing our dilemma, she gave us the alternative of a walking tour instead. She made it clear that we couldn't cover all the destinations but to choose the one that called out to us best. We chose Kampung Baru. Throughout the tour, she engaged us in conversation and by getting to know us in that brief few minutes, she figured out my passion for history and my wife's love of culture and cooking. She took the time to take us to the different places that she knew would interest us while making sure we were well taken care. Because we had extra time, she even offered to show us the Chow Kit Market and along the way, she noticed an open temple and struck a conversation with the local monk which led to us unexpectedly enjoying a lesson on tea brewing and tasting. Finally, we had a chance to sample the local cuisine thanks to the stalls outside the Chow Kit Market area. All in all, a real pleasant experience and one that I would highly recommend to anybody, whether you are an international tourist or a local sightseer. My wife and I took the Bicycle Tour, City & Countryside with Elena in January 2023. My wife and I took the Bicycle Tour, City & Countryside with Elena in January 2023. It was a terrific trip. Highly recommended. Elena is very knowledgeable about the city and is a bike advocate herself. I especially enjoyed the visit to the remaining Malay hamlet, where we stopped to look at traditional houses and road along the quiet side streets. Elena would stop us and show us different trees, plants and herbs along the way and explain how they're used in cooking or medicine. Other highlights were riding near Chinatown, by the site of the old British consulate, and crossing over a highway on a really cool multicolored/multilighted bridge. Some parts of the trip are on busy streets, unavoidably, but Elena kept us safe, leading us with her yellow jacket and hand signals. Again, we had a very nice time and recommend the trip to others. We met Elena at MATIC parking lot. It was easy to find. Elena had our bikes ready for us, and water to take along on the ride. We met Elena at MATIC parking lot. It was easy to find. Elena had our bikes ready for us, and water to take along on the ride. Her brief orientation about the bikes, streets, hand signals, traffic etc. was clear. At the very beginning of the tour, we rode in traffic, but we felt confident following Elena. Soon, we moved on to small, quieter streets which was relaxing. Elena took us to an old neighborhood with wooden Malay houses. The history of the houses was interesting, as well as the manner in which they had been constructed. These houses were not constructed with standard measurements, so each is unique. After looking at the houses, we wound around through small streets in older neighborhoods and Elena stopped to talk with us at different points. Among the places we stopped were Petaling Street (Chinatown), at the Royal Selangor Club next to Independence Square, and in front of the mosque at the confluence of Klang and Gombak rivers. We finished our ride by crossing the Saloma bridge at night to see the beautiful lights. We very much enjoyed the tour and Elena is a knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about the history and different neighborhoods of KL from her. Elena is very friendly and fun to talk with. My husband and I are experienced cyclists and ride in our own city on streets, in traffic. Nevertheless, the first five minutes were surprising - lots of motorbikes - so be patient with yourself as you adjust to the traffic. Just follow Elena, who will be in the lead, and you will enjoy the tour very much. We highly recommend this tour. The very very best recommandations to “Bike with Elena” – it’s the most preferabel active way to see, observe, smell, touch and listen to the vibrant city! The very very best recommandations to “Bike with Elena” – it’s the most preferabel active way to see, observe, smell, touch and listen to the vibrant city! Elena knows everything worth knowing about the wonderful city. Sunday morning we had a truly great experience on the guidet bike-tour with Elena. She took us around the city by excellents bikes, and she explained a lot of interesting and “good to know” information about the city and its citizens. We had several stops, and Elena has prepared a very good mix of points of interests! Elena speak a fluent english, she has a good sense of humor – and the only things we need to say: Do it! Needles to say – you should have some experience in biking safely around in a capital!
