Stop At: Sierra Nevada, Sierra Nevada, Sierra Nevada National Park, Province of Granada, Andalucia
Sierra Nevada, or Sulayr, Mountain of the Sun as it was called by the Muslims, rises up between the provinces of Granada and Almeria like a giant and compact massif with fifteen peaks of over 3, 000 metres, including the Mulhacén (3, 482 metres), the highest point on the Iberian Peninsula. After being collected from your accommodation in Granada, you will be driven to 2, 500 meters above sea level to the top of the Sierra Nevada Road. From here you will head to the most beautiful glacier valley of Sierra Nevada, San Juan Valley. Here you will learn how the ice has been excavating the rocks throughout thousand of years. You will also encounter beautiful lakes, waterfalls, and shiny rocks, as well as wildlife such as mountain goats, eagles, birds migrating from Africa, and insects and plants that only exist here.

Jaime is an experienced tour guide and he personally walked with us throughout the entire hike. His guiding style is calm, quiet, and he gives you space to take the hike at your pace. Ascending the trail was definitely challenging but completely worthwhile, in a way the physical demands of this hike reminded me of what it feels like to do a spin class! If you are into an activity challenge and want to see the Sierra Nevada landscape, I would highly recommend this tour. I went in early September so the weather was warm with a mild chill at the top of the hike with winds. If you’re wondering what to wear, long activewear pants, trail shoes, and a sweat wicking base layer with a packable windbreaker & hat is a good way to set yourself up for a good hiking experience. For snacks and food, water - 2L bottle, and some nuts or a jamon sandwich should do the trick:) Happy hiking!Had the best hike, Jaime was a super experienced and lovely guide that let the group set the pace. Breathtaking views! Would 100% recommend, wish I could go again!

Jaime is a wonderful guide, super passionate about mountains, with great local knowledge. I happened to be the only person on the tour for the day so it turned out to be a private tour. Jaime speaks good English and contacted the day before to confirm the timing and meeting location. All ran smoothly as expected. Jaime’s dog, Kai, joined us and brought so much joy. I couldn’t think of better company than Jaime and Kai for a day on mountain. Strongly recommend this tour! The Hike was definitely challenging but doable. What made it even better was our amazing guide Jamie and his cute doggy Kai. Would definitely recommend.

Jaime was my guide for the day and picked me up on time at the rendezvous point. I was fortunate to have a private tour as other people cancelled. My suggestion to anybody who fears the heat of the city while checking a weather app (40 degrees), the temperature in the mountain area is like 22/23 degrees so really comfortable for a walk. Jaime asked me If I would be in for an extra advanced piece of the route and I was very glad I agreed to it. The landscape is gorgeous and the silence you can experience is also outstanding. I would advise the tour if you are in for a day of exercise as well as some points really demand something from you physically, but also the guide will adjust the route to your needs when on the hike.
