Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking Factory (Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking” is one of the largest wine and spirits producing companies in Georgia and the Caucasus region. Established in 2001, KTW produces wine, brandy, sparkling wine, and chacha with traditional Georgian techniques mixed with the state of art technologies. This allows the company to preserve an old, unique taste of wine and create its own signature style to spread to the world. We will have the possibility to visit the wine factory and try 5 types of Georgian wine and 10 years of Brandy. Advice: •Take your bottle of water to drink it between wine tasting. •In a wine factory can be low temperature so take your jackets. •Chkhaveri – White Dry Wine. KTW’s signature wine “Chkhaveri” dates back to 1880 to the village Askana, where wine-maker Antimoz Chkhaidze founded one of the most prominent wine cellars of that period. He used unique grapes in that region and made a brand new wine type. He named it: “Chkhaveri”.

Stop At: Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino, Signagi Georgia
The monastery of St. Nino is located in the village of Bodbe, in the Sighnaghi region, Kakheti. The territory of the monastery is decorated with flower beds and bushes, vineyards and a healing spring. The history of the monastery is closely connected with the adoption of Christianity.
According to the legend, after the adoption of Christianity, King Miriani had a dream: four stars flew across the four mountains of Georgia and one of the rays was near Bobde. Nino went there to put a cross on that very place. She lived very modestly in a tent where she died. She was buried in the place where her tent was. At the beginning of the IV century, a monastery was built on the site of the tent. The grave of Nino is located inside the monastery, under the altar, and the altar is strictly forbidden to be photographed.

Stop At: Signagi, Signagi, Kakheti Region
Signagi is a small beautiful town in the Kakhetian region. About 10 years ago it was the forgotten dull town, which after the extensive restoration has become a delightful civilized tourist center with cobbled streets and cozy houses with bright red tile roofs. The town’s architecture is made in the style of southern Italian classicism. There have also been built a number of hotels and guest houses corresponding to any taste and preferences. Signagi is also known as “the town of love”, and the reason is that there is a special wedding house, where you can get married at any time without prior delivery of documents.

Tour guide was Giorgi, his English and Russian were both very good. Took us through some great views and the wine tasting was very enjoyable showing us high quality wine and chacha. Servings were also very generous with as much as you asked for when chacha was concerned. We were on a budget and at no point did we feel forced to spend any more. Certainly very good value for money and I would recommend both to those on a budget and those willing to spend a bit more.
