This rock is located on the West side of Rio, in a safe neighborhood, outside of the common tourist route.
This experience has two options:
Sunrise hike experience. For adventurous hikers who don't mind awakening very early in the morning.
Morning hike.
Sunset hike experience. For people who don't like get up early in the morning.
The returning times for Sunrise/Sunset:
Sunrise: 05:00AM
Morning hike: 07:00AM
Sunset: 05:00PM

What to expect

Stop At: Pedra do Telegrafo, Rua Almirante Carlos Tinoco 432 500 Barra de Guaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro 23020-260 Brazil
The hike to the peak of Telegraph hill will take about 30-45 minutes. From the top you will experience amazing panoramic views of beaches and landscapes. You will have the opportunity to take photos from the famous rock that juts out to create an optical illusion of being high above the ground with the sea below in the background. Watching the sun rise from the top of the hill is even more spectacular and memorable.

Thank you very much!The experience was great, Ciao was a great guide and had lots of great info to give. $20 for a guide is well worth it. The area can get a bit confusing so having a guide eliminates all of the added stress. A++

First, let me point out how accommodating and thorough our two tours with Caio were! So much that my senses were overwhelmed - definitely a good thing! First, let me point out how accommodating and thorough our two tours with Caio were! He heard about a cancellation of another tour of ours and was able to take us on a favela tour prior to the one to Telegraph Rock. And WOW, the favela tour was AMAZING! I could not have visited Rio without having been outside of the Copacabana / Ipanema tourist area, so this tour was a blessing! Caio took us EVERYWHERE in the favela, I mean EVERYWHERE! It was hours but one didn't realize it because we saw soo much. We never felt threatened, scared or otherwise in danger. Once we completed that, Caio and his driver took us to the hotel to change and then straight to the hike which was about an hour outside of Rio. It allowed for a quick nap ;-) Once at the base of the park, prepare yourself for a good hike and bring water - mosquito repellent not necessary. Awesome opportunities for lots of pictures, and use Caio too because he's just like a music video director! Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide and will definitely return!
