Historic District of Old Quebec walking tour (3h)
Overview
Starting with the first nations, we'll go through the history of the city with the arrival of the first French settlers, the creation of the Royal colony of New France, the emergence of Quebec City as capital of British North America, the creation of the Dominion of Canada, leading to the contemporary era. Almost 500 years of history!
I can do rigorous in-dept guided tours, but I can also do light and amusing ones with many fun facts and anecdotes! My philosophy is to listen to my clients needs, and tailor-made a visit that will measure up to their expectations and hopefully beyond.

Excellent tour guide. He was a historian by trade and very knowledgeable. I would highly highly recommend him.

Tommy Byrne is entertaining and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Quebec and the city in general. He gave us recommendations for restaurants and the best French onion soup:). Fascinating history of Quebec made more so because it was clear that Tommy has actively worked in preservation of the artifacts of the city. He also knows the locals and was obviously well respected (a local referred a person to him for a tour during our walk). Loved this walk and highly recommend. **Wear good sturdy walking shoes. This tour is not for people with physical limitations— Quebec is hilly with cobblestones. So much history! This is just the type of tour we like. Tommy is an excellent guide. Knowledgeable and interesting with adding personal information to the city of Old Quebec. Great tour!

As with all Tours by Locals, we had an outstanding tour with a true local, Steeve, who has been guiding in this area for 30 years. He has spent so much time in Old Quebec, it seemed he had eaten at every restaurant, and knew every shop owner. He paced the tour beautifully, and interspersed historical, architectural, and modern reconstruction context into his stories and vignettes. This was a wonderful and enjoyable three hours, and we would continue to support Tours in any part of the world, and Steeve, if you are in Quebec.
