Amanda gave us the history of styles of architecture within the city. It added to the stories she told us about the previous residents. Her talk was organized by decades. We found her pleasant an engaging. There were only six of us so we could all hear well. If she has ten people I would hope she would have Vox or similar speaker system where visitors have ear buds to hear her well. Sometimes traffic or airplane sounds would cause her to pause for awhile before continuing talking. Overall, I recommend. Our tour guide Amanda led us on a captivating tour of the historic downtown area of Wilmington. Our tour guide Amanda led us on a captivating tour of the historic downtown area of Wilmington. Our party of four along with another couple all met in a convenient location at 930A on a Friday. The weather was sunny and cool. The walking tour lasted abit more than 90 minutes - but we all wished we could have gone on and on. Amanda does a great job of mixing history with culture and architecture. She answered all our questions - even those re: the flora and fauna of the area - and the occasional military plane flying above our heads! Her presentation is clear, well presented and laced with facts, anecdotes and wonderful humor. Really recommend you try this. The tour guide, Amanda Leese, was fantastic! We are looking into taking other tours with her. The history of Wilmington was fascinating and the homes were beautiful.

Amanda! Our original booked tour was for Saturday but the weather did not cooperate. She contacted us and provided the opportunity to reschedule Sunday morning. She is very knowledgeable and guided us from early colonial times to current times of the events and cultural changes that made Wilmington what it is today. It was very interesting and we learned a lot.Amanda is a very cool lady. She has a personal history with Wilmington and she loves it. That comes through in her tour. Amanda is a very cool lady. She has a personal history with Wilmington and she loves it. That comes through in her tour. She is pretty, poised and so comfortable talking with people. We felt we were an “insider”. She knows so much. This is a tour that you can fully enjoy for an hour and a half and go on your way or it can be the beginning of a longer exploration of the town. I would plan to leave time to visit a couple of the museums on the route either a different day or later in the day because your interest to know more about certain things will be peaked. Different things appeal to different people but there will definitely be more fun to have later when you go check out stories that made you curious. There is one place that is a museum on the bottom two levels and the third floor is all Wilmington archives so if you love the real thing….you see what I mean. I included a pic of the museum-archive house below. Amanda also knows about other attractions as well as all the beaches in Wilmington and can give tips on the best ways to enjoy them. She has evening wine tours twice a month which I imagine with her would be totally worth it! Thumbs up!
