Instagrammable York History Experience
Overview
It is especially aimed at those who are looking to have an enjoyable, entertaining walking tour combined with a focus on capturing the magic of the beautiful city of York for your memories & social media posts.
The tour lasts 3 hours and takes you off the beaten track into areas that visitors often miss. You will learn some history and experience some wonderful sights and you will make a connection with the city that will stay with you.
I believe in creating intimate experiences & moments that stay with you. The maximum group size I normally work with is limited to 10. However, in line with Government guidelines this is reduced to 5 for now.
Small groups mean everyone stays involved & engaged & you can ask as many questions as you like. It also means there is always someone to help you to create your images with tips on how to capture the perfect shot or to take shots of you against some stunning backdrops that will get plenty of reaction on social media.

We booked John for 4 of us and it was one of the best tours I’ve had anywhere. John is a local who has a good knowledge of history in general as well as York City. The real plus was his friendly outgoing personality and he’s strong voice that was easy to hear even with masks and social distancing. He provided us with great local history but even more so with an entertaining afternoon. Unlike so many tours where you’re in a crowd John only takes up to 5 people so it’s a very personal tour where you can ask questions. I wish I could find guides this good in other cities.Great tour and very informative. The guide (sorry for got his name) provide us a lot stories that does not heard elsewhere. Due to the guide, John, being so busy he offered us an afternoon walk instead of the usual morning times. We were very lucky - we had a private tour! With just the three of us, we were able to go wherever the story of this amazing city took us. There was so much to see and talk about. The guide has a wealth of knowledge to share. We discovered so many hidden places, stepping off the Shambles into quiet lanes and backstreets. Three hours flew by and we took hundreds of pictures. Highly recommended!
