Jukani was a well organised sanctuary. Our guide Basil was very informative and knew all the animal well. Their safety and happiness was a priority. What the sanctuary are doing is great, taking in animals who are humanised or injured and wouldn’t survive in the wild. The enclosures were a reasonable size. They don’t breed any animals which shows they aren’t just after tourists money. We really enjoyed seeing the beautiful cats up so close & having the time to watch & enjoy their magnificence. Our guide “X” was knowledgeable & shared the background of the different animals & why they were at Jukani. Unbelievable what humans do to these animals to gain status, through trophy hunting & having as house pets. Highly recommend-we went back later same day to see more of these amazing animals. We would like to say thank you to the park for all their hard work with these animals. He was very polite and patient with us and answered all our questions regardless on how silly. He shared his love for these animals with us and we couldn't have enjoyed our time more. We would like to personally say thank you to Bert and Jukani for education us on wild animals and what we are doing to them. The Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary is predominantly a big cat sanctuary, but they have other wild animals there as well. They only do guided tours and we were lucky to get a guide who was very passionate about conservation. He was very patient and let us spend all the time we wanted at each enclosure, and was more than willing to answer all the questions we had about the animals. All the animals have big enough enclosures, well laid out as close as possible to their natural environment. The experience is completely worth it and I can honestly say that I have more knowledge as well as appreciation for those animals. On the property there is also a coffee shop as well as a puzzle park. At the ticket office you are also able to purchase tickets to the Bird's of Eden as well as Monkeyland sanctuaries. My wife and I really had a good time and can recommend this experience for adults as well as children. I would just like to also mention that this is a sanctuary not a zoo and that all the animals look very happy and healthy. They have all been rescued from private owners. All the female are on birth control, and the sanctuary is a no-touch facility.JUKANI WILDLIFE - N2, THE CRAGS, PLETTENBERG BAY. They got a good variety of well kept big cats, all are in large enclosures within a forest, making it sometimes difficult to spot them. All enclosures have a wire-mesh fence, making it very difficult to take pictures without the wire-mash being in your way. They got some raised stands for taking pictures, but due to the size of the enclosures and the forest character it is still not easy to get the animals in front of the lens. The staff is friendly and the guide was very knowledgeable. Over all, I recommend some of the Game reserves for photography of the big cats if the schedule and budget allows.
