Wow! Wow! Wow! A highlight of our stay at Ayers Rock Resort. This was such a beautiful hike. AAT tour guides Tanya and Jacob were fabulous with their knowledge, friendly manner, resilience and thinking on their feet to make the most of a blimp in the day when our bus broke down. AAT were very prompt in responding with follow-up bus and passengers missed little of their tour and time was made up. These things happen, it's how it is responded to that makes a difference. These guys came up trumps. But back to the sunrise and hike!!! Truly a wonderful experienceWow! So worth the 5am start. Comfortable air conditioned coach. An ample breakfast pack was supplied. Wow! So worth the 5am start. Comfortable air conditioned coach. An ample breakfast pack was supplied. A huge Special thanks to Andrew for being the perfect informative and accommodating guide and also Kevin for making this tour a once in a lifetime experience. The walk was a little more difficult than we imagined over some rocky terrain but we all managed quite well. The sunrise over The Rock was amazing. The colours of the landscape are stunning and make great photos. Be prepared for the millions of flies that appear as soon as the sun rises, the fly nets helped. This tour is one we will never forget, thanks AAT.What an amazing tour! Aaron Paul and Dave were superb guides. Their love and passion for this wonderful country was such a highlight. My wife and I did this tour on our second day at Ayers Rock. Fantastic morning with the AATKings Team of Aaron, Paul and David. These guys were not only very professional but also so much fun to “hang with” that morning. Their knowledge of the area and it’s history was extremely helpful. Never a dull moment. So much fun. They made the experience so enjoyable. If you do this tour, I hope you can get them. Thanks again Aaron, Paul and David! I did the tour in early February, meaning the temperatures are high. However, it meant a small group of four plus the three guides (one in training). This meant we could move at a quicker pace and had more time to chat with the guides and hear their stories. The tour has a couple of options. After getting to the first lookout, you can continue on to the second lookout which is a little harder or walk to Walpa Gorge which is about the same level of difficulty as the first leg. I chose to do the more difficult one. I am pretty fit, and it was difficult at times between the upward climb and heat, but the views were amazing. I found this tour and views to be as good and even better than Uluru. My only “complaint” would be that a slower pace would allow more time to stop and take pictures along the way. However, that also means being in the heat longer, and I was still able to get a ton of great photos.
