Kayak the Waikato River Taupo
Overview
Cruise lazily down the Waikato River, New Zealand’s longest river, on this gentle kayak tour. The tour starts near the control bridge in town and meanders down the slow moving crytal clear waters of the Waikato River. Kayak past stunning cliff faces, lush native forests, islands, river wildlife and swimming holes. You will kayak under Taupo Bungy’s platform where hopefully someone will be hurling themselves down into the water. Cheer them on! We may also stop at rock face for those adventurers ones to go for a Rock Jump (optional).Towards the end of the trip you will stop by a natural hot springs popular with the locals and tourists alike where you can get out for a soak. You will end the trip at Reid’s Farm with some refreshments.

What to expect

We spent a wonderful day with Legend kayaking the Waikato and visiting the Orakei Korako thermal park. We originally booked The Squeeze but we couldn't do it post Cyclone Gabrielle and so the company offered us the Waikato/Orakei Korako tour as a substitute and it was fabulous. Full marks … and...

When I went to book the prove went up 25% or so. I contacted the company and they would not honour the Trip Advisor price. So disappointed we decided to spend our op money elsewhere.Lovely, calm trip down the Waikato. We did the Family Float and it was great for all ages, from the Grandparents to 5 year old. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful scenery. A great first kayak trip.

A great first kayak trip.This is my 1st time kayaking experience. Thanks to my instructor and to the good weather. Waikato river float will calm your mind for sure. A serene and beautiful experience. We stopped at a hot pool for about 20 minutes. At the end, the team was waiting with muffins, hot chocolate, coffee and tea.
