We went with a group of 8 on one of the first tours in the morning. In July, the water was really cold - so be prepared. The hardest part is paddling over the waves, once you do that its much easier. Two in our group were tossed by the waves, capsizing and ended up not joining the group ( 1 adult & 1 child) mainly because of the shock of the cold water. They were not given a refund or other compensation. The guides were informative, discussing wildlife and key points of interest. We would paddle for about 5 minutes, then we would group up for about 10 minutes while the guides talked. If you are prone to sea sickness, this is when the waves will effect you, so be wary. The surf was rather rough in the morning, so we did not even get close to the caves, which was really disappointing. We were each given a pass to the cave store, which offers a passage to one of the caves. If you plan to do this, it may be worth asking about the tide schedule. The groups shortly after us were able to see the caves - or at least get closer than we did.We went for the 7 caves kayak tour in la jolla. Our guides alexis and Templeton were amazing! They were knowledgeable and fun. They went out of their way to make the tour good we even saw a whale! It was a great tour and super fun. Thanks guys!

I went on the kayak tour of the 7 caves, under the impression from looking at their website, you actually explore the caves, which is not the case. You launch from the beach, if you are going on a weekend, good luck finding parking, recommend taking a share ride service. Once in the kayak, you paddle to the cliffs where the caves are located. The tour guides talk about the history of the homes in the area and descriptions of the caves, thats it. You go through only 1 cave for a brief minute, then turn around and head out. If I would of known that you don't actually explore caves, I would've chosen a different adventure attraction. Water was nice, the kayak ride was a good workout and saw some seals on the rocks by the caves. I rate this attraction as OK, I would have just been better off renting my own kayak to do my own thing for cheaper. We did the Kayak Tour and it was super fun. We did the Kayak Tour and it was super fun. They cancelled the snorkeling part of the tour as the surf was high and visibility poor. We saw people snorkeling with other companies but the surf really was high making me believe the visibility would be low so we appreciated that they cancelled that part. Our group was large and it was hard to hear the guides, though when you could hear them, they were very interesting. The guides also didn't try to keep track of the kayaks with them. It wasn't a problem on our tour but I could see how it could become a problem. La Jolla Street Parking WARNING! We parked on the street running straight out from the shop. It was on a slight hill. Every car with out of state plates had a parking ticket on it for not turning the wheels into the curb. It was very under handed. Please be warned and I implore the local companies to warn their customers who book tours in advance with them. This was a great tour! Kelly takes 2 kayaks at a time into one of the caves, not scary at ALL, you go in and out the same way, not claustrophobic at all. Some choppy waters and a good swell to get back to the beach, good fun surf-kayaking. A great experience worth doing! Saw a number of sea lions too. They provide all the equipment.
