My partner & I recently joined the Kyoto Night Food tour, with Yuta as our guide. We started by walking through Nishiki markets and sampled soy donuts (which were delicious) and also some fried conger eel (also tasty). We then stopped at a small bar to try a range of small home-style dishes and plum wine. After that, we went to a standing izakaya and tried another 4 or dishes, plus sake & beer. Lastly, we stopped at a tempura restaurant for even more food and sake. We were stuffed full by the end and couldn't even finish our tempura. Do not worry about there being not enough food! We also walked through Pontocho alley where the Geisha & Mako stay. Yuta was very knowledgeable & spoke very good English. I'd highly recommend this tour as it was a great insight into a more traditional side of Kyoto and the food is amazing. My wife and I had a great time on our tour. Our guide Moe did a great job. Ninja Food tours provides an outstanding introduction to the wonderful food of Kyoto. Our tour guide, Moe, led us to one marvelous venue after another--including intimate establishments we could never have found on our own. She not only brought us to the food--in doing so she also educated us on how people in Kyoto live, eat, and entertain. Fried tofu skins were just one of the unique items we enjoyed under her congenial guidance. From the Nishiki market to a stand-up bar, tempura restaurants to hidden local haunts in the Gion district, she showed us how to eat--and eat well. She even gave us tips for other places to go in Kyoto, including her favorite Ramen shop --Wajouryoumen Sugari, which we visited the following day and really enjoyed. An absolute must when visiting Kyoto. So much food, wonderful guide. Also helped us get our bearings quickly around a key part of kyoto.

We visited 5 different food venues and, even though we have been in Kyoto for 5 days, we did not repeat any food that we had already tried during our visit. The drinks and the food choices were awesome! Great tour!
