What to expect
We will start off the day on the search for the best waves, using our local knowledge we will drive to check the beaches for the best surf spot for your level. On finding the perfect spot, we pitch up an umbrella to mark our base, and then we will start our surf warm-up and theory on the beach.
After this, we will be in the water putting the theory into practice! Our morning sessions last 2.5 hours. For lunch, we take this picnic-style on the beach including seasonal fruits for snacks. The afternoon is your perfect chance to practice what you learnt in the morning with our supervised 'free surf' sessions.
Join us in soaking up the Moroccan surf culture and sharing our passion for the beach and surf.

Really excited about the one-week surfcamp I've joined at Shaka Surf. My main reason to join a camp in Morocco was to improve as a beginning surfer. With some previous surf experience I would highly recommend the Intermediate camp, since it offers a lot of personal coaching and guidance both in the water (with surf instructors), as from the beach. Although the (weather/surf) conditions can be different day-by-day, and are of course impossible the influence, the Shaka team managed to find a great variety of suitable spots on a daily basis. We've ended up surfing on locations with not that many other camps, and because of the smaller groups the lessons were always personal and focussed on improvement. The general vibe at Shaka, but also in Tamraght or at the beaches itself is great. Everyone is extremely friendly, the atmosphere is super relax, both on the beach as is in the water while surfing. The room in the Riad was clean and matched all my expectations. The Riad is shared with some other camps, which makes it a diverse place of people from different ages and nationalities. Since both the breakfast and dinner are in the Riad it is a great place to catch up with fellow surfers/travellers from different countries. Overall a very cool experience with great hospitality from Beth (and Ruth), Hassan and Boba.I think this place is great for beginner surfers but not for us (green wave, longboard surfers). I think this place is great for beginner surfers but not for us (green wave, longboard surfers). Ultimately, we felt tricked by a good website and we cut our visit short. We did not get to pick out our boards- a big deal. They had mostly soft-tops BUT to their credit, they were very quick to get us some hard boards when we asked, which was really nice of them...but equipment was still very limited. We were lumped into the beginner group and they were trying to convince us that the close out waves were nice conditions. We did not feel that the instructors were patient and friendly, did not feel that they valued quality over quantity, and I could not trust them to progress. For example: They were pushing me into close-out waves & When the set was coming and there was a wave I wanted to avoid, I knew I had to paddle past it. They would say "no, wait here, we're ok" and then the wave would get closer and they would say "never mind, paddle!" at which point it would be too late. This kind of thing happened often were I would read the wave, they would tell me something different than my instinct, then last minute say something else. There was some helpful welcomed feedback but we ultimately didn't find their advise safe and they stressed us both out more than anything. I went with the mindset of wanting to work my butt off to learn, but to me, this did not mean wasting energy or risking injury on poor waves. I'm sure they were convinced that we were beginners. One day, they asked if we wanted to go back out for an afternoon session when the water was absolutely flat...it was honestly insulting. I completely understand that wave conditions are uncontrollable and I am not blaming them for unfavorable conditions, we just seemed to be on very different pages. Their advertising/instagram suggests that waves are more consistent than they actually are. As you can see, there are many positive reviews, so who knows, maybe it was just us. We wanted longboard waves. The food was not great. Also, if you are vegetarian, the meal will be the same every night- tagime. The breakfast is very basic: bread, little crepes, hard boiled eggs, corn flakes, store bought sugar yogurts. Not bad, just know what to expect. Positive: It was very nice to have group dinners to chat about the day with other visitors. The accommodation is nice and as advertised. The rooms are tidy and the rooftop terrace view is amazing. There were many arguments happening on the premisses and once there was a former disgruntled employee that came in claiming that she had not been properly compensated and she had to be forcefully removed - breaking things on her way out. We were also greeted by someone who volunteered for the Raid hotel, who didn't really know what was going on (not his fault) who put us in the wrong room. We unpacked and had to change rooms. This wasn't a big deal but things like this do add up to your overall experience. I could see these things impacting a solo traveler more because the reason for booking a camp versus doing your own thing is for the whole hand-holding experience. The hosts were very flexible and offered to refund our money so that we could rent a car, equipment, and do things on our own. This was very appreciated.

) .Hi everyone! Hi everyone! I travelled with my friend and we stayed with Beth and Hassan for 10 days from 18th till 28th December. The trip has been perfect even before we actually came to Morocco. Beth helped us a lot to prepare for the trip and answered all questions I was constantly pouring on her and made sure we collected all documents to travel to Morocco during covid. When we arrived everything was perfect from day 1. Even though the beaches were closed during our stay we had a fantastic time, and the team made their best to help us get the most from the trip. I want to emphasize that it did not feel like staying at a camp / hotel. The guys managed to make us feel like at home which made the whole stay special. We were seriously contemplating to change the tickets and to stay for a bit longer. Thanks a lot the whole team: Beth, Hassan, Hafit and Rashid! Looking forward to seeing you again! This was my first surf trip outside of the UK and I really only have positive things to say about it. Myself and 7 friends stayed for a week and it ticked all the boxes for us. We were a group of three beginners and five intermediate-advanced surfers and Hassan and Hafid catered to this perfectly. For those of us with more experience, Hafid acted as more of a guide and used his endless knowledge of the local breaks to position us well at peaks and avoid rocks. I definitely wouldn't have had the confidence to surf the waves I did without him pointing out the location of rocks, etc. We were essentially able to surf as much as we wanted - often 3-4 hours each day - which is a level of flexibility that I've heard you don't get at other surf camps, particularly European ones. Hafid is a really great surfer, as well as being one of Morocco's top bodyboarders, so really knows his stuff! On top of all this, Rashid was on the headland/beach every morning taking high quality photos of our session which is an amazing thing to be included for what we paid! Equipment was great, we had a selection board lengths to choose from, even as a larger group, and the quality and condition of both the hardboards and foamies was excellent. In fact two of the foamies were literally brand new. Wetsuits were comfortable and everyone was able to find one that fit well with minimal rubbing. The accommodation was excellent. We had the freedom of the building above Hassan and Beth's apartment on the bottom floor, and each room came with a key to both the room and the building itself so we could come and go as we pleased. The views over the bay were incredible and due to the slope it has been built on should retain this view regardless of any construction that goes on infront. Showers were clean, powerful and hot. Beds were comfortable and there was sufficient storage for clothes, etc. All meals were provided - although due to the occasional early surf we bought breakfast at a beachside cafe a couple times. Breakfast was a mix of breads with a good mix of condiments, a yoghurt, and an egg option (shakshuka, omlette,...) and this was great. Coffee and mint tea were also included. Lunch was often more functional (mainly a positive thing as we just wanted more fuel for the afternoon surf!), either a mix of things in a baguette, or a variety of things with rice or lentils (the lentils and aubergine was by far the best one!). A banana and chocolate bar was also included and we ate this on the beach every day. Dinner was usually a stew cooked in a tagine, with really fresh and delicious salads. Dinner was always delicious, however my only comment here would be that as a vegetarian (there were only two in our group) the tagine stew did get a bit repetitive. Only a small thing though and something I've come to accept when I stay somewhere that is catered. Dinner and breakfast was always eaten on the lower of the two terraces overlooking the bay and that was a treat in itself. Aside from the above, taxis were also paid for when we wanted to go to the souk in Agadir which was really great. Our transfer to and from the airport was also included which really took the stress out of it. Thank you Beth, Hassan, Hafid, Rashid and the guys doing the cooking, we had an amazing week and have no doubt we will be back in future - in fact this was one of our group's third stay!
