Also known as Liberation Square (Trg osvoboditve), this is one of the most significant historic places for Slovenia's socialism.

Formerly known as Revolution Square, this is the largest open space in the centre of Ljubljana. Its former ideals of anti-fascist resistance, social progress and class struggle are still visible in its public art.

Coming to Ljubljana for the first time I was interested to know more about the city and how life had changed post communism. Greg’s tour was so interesting and informative that I feel like now I’ve really “seen” Ljubljana. As we toured various locations throughout the city, he wove stories of past and present to help us understand life before and after communist rule. As a history teacher, I had many specific questions which he answered fully. Greg is a very responsive, easy-going and well-informed guide who gave us amazing broad but also in instances detailed insight into this part of history. There was an splendid atmosphere throughout the tour, which was well-planned but also adaptable and responsive to what interested us most. He made a point of getting to know each of us, our background and our knowledge at the beginning of the tour to tailor to what we were most interested in hearing. This way we got an exceptional idea of what life was like in communist Yugoslavia and post-communist Slovenia as he guided us through the city, stopping at various buildings and monuments to provide us with captivating, meaningful and also fun anecdotes. A first-class experience and must-do!There were six of us on a tour with Greg - and even the two teenagers in our group were totally thrilled! That's why we can only recommend this tour warmly: We went to places we would never have discovered without Greg and learned a lot about this wonderful city and its history. So book this tour!
