Llama Trek (Half-day) - Kaikoura Bay, Beaches & Seal Colony
Overview
Llama are highly intelligent, clever animals = requiring that you get to know them (and work with them) to successfully complete your trek. The subtle 'bond' you form with your llama companion is highly rewarding.
You experienced guide will help you get to know your woolly companion.
Your guide will also share a range of local Kaikoura history and information, including the extraordinary effects of the 2016 earthquake (the largest ever recorded in New Zealand)
You do not ride your llama.

Beautiful walk with adorable creatures. Start with a lovely walk along the beach with the llamas, heading towards the seal colony where you can do some seal spotting. A just as beautiful walk back with a stop for a drink and a piece of cake kindly provided. I would recommend this activity to anyone, from solo travellers, to couples, to friends, to families. It’s a great way to spend half a day. We loved it!Kevin the llama whisperer showed us Kaikoura and the seal colony with Legend and Max. It was a fantastic experience in which you learn a lot about how to llama and the town's history.

Had an absolutely amazing experience with Kevin’s guided llama trek! I was the only person booked for that day (the tours usually only proceed if there’s more guests), but he went above and beyond in ensuring I was still able to go for the tour in the few days I was stopping over in Kaikoura. The tour itself was so fun, he taught us how to lead and interact with the lovely llamas, and we got to explore so many beautiful places along the shorelines, with lots of interesting tidbits about each location we stopped at. The llamas themselves were a joy to walk (I walked with Legend), much like walking gentle big dogs, and it was really fun watching them explore and snack alongside us! Thank you for this tour, and I’ll definitely bring my friends/family here in future! We had a lovely time with Kevin and his lovely llama lads! Going on the half day trek was well worth it due to the bond you end up creating with your llama in this case Harry for me. The views were spectacular and the guide had very interesting information about both the Llama and the history of Kaikoura. The time went super fast! I would definitely recommend this as it is one of those truly unique experiences.
