Discover remote snorkel locations as unique as the vessel that gets you there. Hula Kai is an exciting, yet truly relaxing experience!
This cruise departs daily from Keauhou Bay, the birthplace of Hawai’i’s longest reigning Monarch, King Kamehameha III. During the cruise, experience a scenic Hawaiian cultural journey with fascinating historical stories while viewing significant sites including the place of death of the great Circumnavigator Captain James Cook at Kealakekua Bay, the last battle stand at Kuamo’o Battlefield and the Royal Holua Slide, the largest and best preserved in the state, and a historical landmark.
The Kona Coast Tour includes two unique snorkel destinations (generally Pali Kaholo, Red Hill, and often Kealakekua Bay), tropical breakfast and a healthy lunch, standup paddleboards, and snorkel gear.
During the last hour of the tour, our cash bar is open with beer, wine, mai tai's, and champagne for purchase.
All participants must be at least 7 years of age and be able to swim on their own without assistance and have previous snorkeling experience. Hula Kai is the sister vessel of Fair Wind II and part of Fair Wind Cruises - family owned since 1971.

Additional information
- All guests must be able to swim on their own and have previous snorkeling experience
- Not wheelchair accessible
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Full-face snorkel masks are NOT permitted
- Guests must be 7 years and older to participate in this activity
- Not recommended for non-swimmers, beginner swimmers, and those without snorkeling experience
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 40 travelers

This catamaran can hydroplane at 20 knots.. very smooth ride . We saw whales, and the coral reef park was in good condition. Moray Eels, parrot fish, trumpet fish, Butterfly fish, yellow Tang, small puffer fish,and more....

We took the 9:30am - 2pm two stop snorkeling trip and it was a wonderful experience! The crew was fantastic, fun and attentive. I would recommend to anyone who loves to snorkel and paddle board. Tons of beautiful fish and coral. The food was totally amazing, I never would have known it was vegan and I can't wait to try to make myself because they post the recipes on their website. If I return to Kona I would 100% do this trip again - my boyfriend and I had a fantastic time!! AMAZING :-DTrip was fantastic! We snuba dove with Rebecca… she was a fabulous teacher, cheer leader, and guide! Would HIGHLY recommend trying it! All the crew members were great and the food was excellent as well!

I highly recommend the Hula Kai private charter and Fair Winds boat company. My large family had an amazing experience aboard the well-appointed Hula Kai in late December 2021. Everything went well from start to finish. I began by coordinating with Marleen through the office many months ahead. She was very professional and offered excellent customer service! On the day of the trip, the crew worked together like a well-oiled machine. Captain Dante and all hands-on deck were very helpful and friendly. Everything was explained clearly, and all necessary equipment was provided for a solid day of water activities that were fun, clean and safe. As a side note, the plant-based food was enjoyed by every person on the boat. We saw a few dolphins to start our morning and made three stops for snorkeling during the day. All were interesting in their own way, but Kealakekua Bay was the best for the most people because it was shallow and very clear. My family was especially grateful to crew member Kamakani. He led us in a lei-making ceremony in honor of a family member we lost in 2021. He explained the process and offered appropriate prayers. His empathy and kindness will never be forgotten!
