Machame Route - 6 days, Kilimanjaro
Overview
The Machame route is scenically beautiful and varied. However, due to its popularity there are increased numbers of trekkers, it loses some of its splendour. The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field.
Challenging trek with stunning scenery through 5 diverse climatic zones. Good opportunity to split pre-summit day climb to leave climbers rested before summiting.

You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. At Stella Point, you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. Faster hikers may view the sunrise from the summit.
From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. Once at Uhuru Peak you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa!
From the summit we begin our descent by continuing straight down to the Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You may want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. We arrive at Mweka Camp and enjoy our last evening on the mountain.

Myself and my two friends decided to travel to Kilamajaro to complete the machame 6 day route. Friends of ours had completed it the year previous with Monkey Adventures. They swore by them and they were not wrong our whole trip was smooth and highly memorable. The guides are knowledgeable (ours was Remmy who was excellent), the chef, porters and assistant guides all know their roles and are so friendly and outgoing. Would 100% recommend to a friend! This was the best trip, the best experience, the best thing I could have done for myself in my life. I went through Machame route and I had the best team EVER! This was the best trip, the best experience, the best thing I could have done for myself in my life. I went through Machame route and I had the best team EVER! My guide was Amos and I couldn't get better guide on our way up to Uhuru peak. I was getting delicious vegan food, guys were doing excellent job around me - treating me like I am their child. Take care of me all the way. Amos is the best guide, he was checking on my health conditions regularly, leading me accordingly to the top, giving me valuable advises, supporting me mentally and physically too. It was really hard for me to reach the peak, but without Amos and his team I would have never done itGreat staff, highly recommend having Dennis as the guide for Kilimanjaro climbs! He is extremely experienced and knows how to guide you according to your physical health.

Amazing adventure with Sanke , Kennedy, Raja, David, Lucas . They adapt to your speed and needs. Super organization, right materials and food. They also took time to explain the plants, environnement, history of rhe Chaya and animals. One of the only organization climbing with lamps and oxygen bottles. My advise is to check this point when you book. Some guides had nothing.I had the most amazing experience on Kili and I'm so so glad I chose Monkey Adventures. Would choose them again in a heartbeat. I had the most amazing experience on Kili and I'm so so glad I chose Monkey Adventures. Would choose them again in a heartbeat. They had everything I could have wanted. The guides and porters were amazing, so friendly, and so helpful, as well as the staff I was in touch with before the trek. Sleeping arrangements were comfortable and the porters did an awesome job setting everything up. Monkey Adventures was extremely accommodating as well. My friend and I had a specific dietary restriction (Kosher), and the team at Monkey worked with us to ensure we were accommodated and had plenty to eat. This trek was a more affordable option compared to other companies, and I was so impressed with the bang for the buck. I keep in touch with the other trekkers I hiked with as well as my guides, Erick and Hans (who are amazing guides!!). Can't recommend enough!
