The national park was fantastic this time of the year with some snow still on the ground but sunny and warm enough. Great food and conversation too. Strongly recommend.

I was travelling alone in Helsinki for few days and booked this tour so to get to visit at least one natural park and get some fresh air outside the city. I must say it was a great decision ! First, Jeff is a very prepared guide, attentive and friendly. He explained loads of stuff along the way about berries, trees, animals, mushrooms, and Finnish habits, so that I could learn more about Finnish nature and culture! He also provides you with some equipment if you need it and, just in case you have more time, he also organizes longer tours! Second, the salmon soup he prepared was just so good. Since I did the tour in November, we ate it in the wooden house with the fireplace (very recomforting considering the cold and the rain), but in summer you will be able to taste it outside. Third, I was travelling in November, it was raining A LOT and it was supposed to rain the whole day, nevertheless the tour was maintained which was great! Also, there were no other people, so I got an exclusive tour for myself :D To conclude, if you are wondering whether it is worth to go in winter (even in November and without any snow), I can definitely tell you that the beauty of the Finnish forest is always worth a tour … I attach some pics to show you 😉On this visit we were transported to a big national park coming straight from fantasy. On this visit we were transported to a big national park coming straight from fantasy. The forest was lucious and full of life. While we didn't see any deer (which is normal) we saw the fearsome colony of ants, that try to fire at you if you come too close, few birds, and a lot of trees. While walking, jeff (the guide) was always giving informations on every bird, plants, moss and especialy mushrooms. We saw some living experimental patch of forest and the reason behind it. We came into contact with many mushrooms : the commonly eaten one(chanterelles), some funny looking and some presumed to have a medicinal effects. Jeff also cooked us an awesome smoked salmon soup, which was to die for... Just for that it was worth the trip and money. And as we were walking too fast, we finished the tour earlier. Instead of driving us back, jeff showed us an other little lac which was as gorgeous as the first forest. All the while, jeff was always answering any questions, with a big smile, and cheerfull. He does provide you with great tips to travel in and around helsinki and sight to see. To be honest, this tour was great, and the guide is a delight. You will not waste your money and even be happier at the end of the tour. Thanks Jeff!A really cool trip with an even cooler Guide! The park itself was stunning and luckily the weather was great, too. The salmon-soup was really tasty and home-made. I would definitely recommend this tour!
