My wife and I recently joined the wonderful team of Bike and Saddle in Maputo for their three hour 'Pearl Of The Indian Ocean' cycle, starting and ending at the grand old colonial Hotel Polana on Julius Nyerere Avenue. We were paired with our wonderful stylish Lifestyle bikes and the Bike & Saddle trip leaders immediately made us feel comfortable. We rolled out to the Marginal, past the Club Navale and the new waterfront promenade along Katembe bay. Our first visit was to the magnificent railway station of Maputo, CFM, and onwards to many interesting stops. Including the botanical gardens, the Faima market and municipal market, the cathedral in the center of downtown and much more. We loved this experience and can recommend it 100%. The city is a jewell to explore with so much amazing architecture, cultural happenings and the position on one of the most beautiful coastlines in Africa, is a must do activity when you visit the area. Our guides were fabulous. Kudos to Atalia and Ernestino who introduced us to this fascinating city and its most friendly people. The cycle was easy going, tropical and jacaranda line streets, to the old town and through the hussle an bussle of downtown. Traffic was light - never an issue. And the cold beverages and snacks at the Acacia Cafe a wonderful stop. Not sure this company is still in business. We are staying at the Polena and they haven’t humeard of this tour. So although we want to do this, we aren’t sure if it’s real
