As a young honeymoon couple from the UK we were thrilled that although we had booked this tour and expected a group of people it ended up being a private tour! Heather, our tour guide, was fantastic she was so knowledgeable about the area and we managed to visit 5 cellar doors and the brilliant Makana confectionary. After a boozy morning we then sat for a tasty lunch at the Wairou River Winery for lunch (another treat as the tour normally stops for lunch at The Slip Inn but we requested Wairou). After lunch, we boarded a lovely boat at the picturesque Havelock port and met Skipper Hamish and his gorgeous partner Tash - what a pair! They were both so friendly and passionate about their area and the conservation of mussels and mussel farming. The famous green lipped mussels we ate were as fresh as you can get and steamed to perfection, there's something very special about eating fresh mussels whilst being on the water. Thank you all for such a fabulous day - it is one we will always remember.Staying at Blenheim we decided to go on this tour as it had great reviews. We were not disappointed. Staying at Blenheim we decided to go on this tour as it had great reviews. We were not disappointed. The staff from Mark the coach drive, Nick the boat captain plus all the other people involved were so hospitable and welcoming. Being NY day, our travel group was only 13 but expanded to 21 when we got up the boat sector of the day. Picked up at our Blenheim address on time, Mark gave us commentary as we headed off to our first two vineyard stops. Wine tasting at 1030am was a bit early for me personally, but we had top experiences at both Cloudy Bay and St Clair vineyards. After the wine tasting we headed off to Picton to meet the boat, spend approximately 45min exploring Picton and enjoying our on board BBQ lunch. After lunch we headed off into the calm waters of Queen Charlotte sound for 3+ hours of exploring including venturing into some of the 1100 bays in these sounds While in one of the bays we got served up freshly cooked mussels and local salmon. Plus a glass of wine. The food was unbelievably good, especially the mussels, which seemed to be in endless supply. But the guest eventually won that battle. Great commentary and an enjoyable afternoon on the water. After which we all got transferred back to our accommodation. Highly recommended. We went down for one day icon tour, half a day at the winery and half a day on the cruise. It is an amazing experience.

Excellent day out. Everything taken care of. Lovely day on the sounds and time to explore Ships Cove. Our winery lunch was beautiful and we really enjoyed the personalised wine tour where we got to experience some wineries and wines we normally wouldn’t have discovered if we did it on our own. Phil was very thoughtful and even offered to call into a supermarket on our way home to get supplies for the night as we were staying out of town. Highly recommended for a great day out.
