Ryan picked us up at the airport in his bus, and the we boarded his beautiful boat. It was an amazing day with great weather, wonderful food, and plenty of food. Ryan and his team made all 25 of us feel very welcome. They had a cute little store in the corner than sold very nice New Zealand products. The green muscles were excellent, the ham very tasty, and the salads were delicious. The boat has two very clean restrooms, plus little washrooms. Take this tour and you won’t be sorry, Ryan and his team made it a very enjoyable day for all of us.I would give this cruise an A+++. I would give this cruise an A+++. Fantastic cruise with as many greenshell mussels fresh from the sound as you can consume, accompanied by various sauces, and Marlborough wines. Trip captain provided an excellent discussion of the mussel growing and harvesting operation. The enclosed vessel with outside seating available was comfortable even in cool weather. The on board cooks are well-versed in their craft. We had a fantastic afternoon on board the MV Spirit, touring the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds and learning about the history and method of greenshell mussel farming. We had a fantastic afternoon on board the MV Spirit, touring the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds and learning about the history and method of greenshell mussel farming. To top it all off, we were treated to a bowl of greenshell mussels and a glass of sauvignon blanc during our three hour cruise. Superb! Matty, our experienced and very knowledgeable skipper, took us on a journey of discovery of the incredible Sounds while the very capable Georgia skillfully cooked us up a generous serving of greenshell mussels and made sure that our glasses were never empty. The weather in early May was just perfect. No crowds at this time of the year either. I would highly recommend this tour and the professionalism of the Marlborough Tour Company to anyone visiting the Marlborough district of New Zealand.
The cruise and staff were excellent. The tasting was very good. Only one glass of wine was included, a bit more would have been appreciated.

Really enjoyed this trip. We should have gone from Havelock, but due to the bad weather we were taken from Picton on The Queen Charlotte Sound. Lovely crew very friendly & informative. The skipper was great very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. Lexi was also great helping prep the food but also chatting to the passengers. Saw dolphins & seals and visited the salmon farm. The mussels and clams were excellent, washed down with a nice glass of wine. Tea & coffee available to help your self. We then dropped anchor and the skipper came down to the BBQ and cooked the salmon, so fresh tasty and perfectly cooked. Would highly recommend this tour. EnjoyThis tour was spectacular! This tour was spectacular! The tour by bus of the region, driven and commented by Ryan Godsiff, skipper, tour guide, owner, was wonderful. He had grown up in the area and was very knowledgeable. But the boat cruise for our group was over the top: stunning views on the water, green mussels cooked to perfection, salmon plus other foodstuffs that were over the top. And the Sauvignon Blanc plus other wines to sample were wonderful. This bus tour and boat cruise/lunch lasted about three plus hours and were well worth it. Recommended at the highest level for a stunning time, relaxing and informative discussions, and green mussels!
