Thomas the longbowman was our guide on a Sunday afternoon for this consistently interesting, fun and enjoyable walk through the history of Richard II, Henry IV and Henry V in 14th to 15th century Chester. There were tales of battles, backstabbing and more with Thomas providing unique company throughout. A very keen and enthusiastic guide meant we were never without a smile on our face and we were left with a huge amount of historical knowledge gained and a greater understanding of how Chester was in the time period covered. We learnt about the churches, the rivalries, the Rows and much much more. Authentic costume worn by Thomas added an extra treat to this 5 star experience with artefacts from yesteryear providing extra interest, with the opportunity to examine these closely. A real treat! With Thomas always keen to answer questions as fully as possible, taking a guided historical walk with this longbowman comes highly recommended. Do not miss! We will be back to enjoy another tour when we return to Chester, without a doubt! Tom and Jenny.Took the medieval tour with Tom today and it was fabulous! Tome was very knowledgable and personable. Really enjoyed the history account of Hotspur and the Plantagenet era. Detailed knowledge of the conflict and examples of armour and weaponry. Also stories of how the locals live far the time. Would have liked to have walked along parts of the walls during the commentary as there was plenty of time to include a section if people were interested in participating. When meeting our guide, we arrived already by his clothings brought in the mood for medival times. When meeting our guide, we arrived already by his clothings brought in the mood for medival times. He told us not only in an authentical way a lot about the city, its people and war, sucess and intrigues that influenced life and death but had beside shield, sword, and helmet also many smaller pieces of daily use like coins etc ready in his pockets to show. We recommend the walk for everybody interested in a brief but excentic and comprehensive presented overview of Chester's wild times.
