This provided a wonderful combination of Maori History and Culture. You get to see the hangi being raised and explained then an easy gentle walk through the bush with an explanation of and example of some Maori history and then back inside for a Hangi and show. Being run by a family who are passionate about who they are and what they are doing was amazing to experience. The Hangi was one of the best I have had ( I have had a few over the years) and I definitely recommend visiting if you have the opportunity.Excellent !! Enjoyed every minute ! Chose Mitai as read reviews and they still do the hangi traditional way. We were so warmly welcomed and enjoyed the delicious hangi meal followed by the hula to Hakka concert. A highlight was the walk through the bush to the MItai VIllage and the sacred spring. The whole evening was a real learning experience for our teenage grandson. MItai is doing an amazing job in these extraordinary times when we do not have international tourists. All New Zealanders should have a MItai Maori VIllage experience.
