Morning Market and Street Art Tour, Including Breakfast and all Transport
Overview
We'll pick you up and take you to our favorite local market, where you'll be treated to a guided tour and your first scrumptious breakfast. We'll introduce you to local snacks and educate you on the often under-represented food culture of Cambodia.

We'll visit over 40 different murals around the city and our guides will help you understand the cultural significance of the murals and how they express social commentary.

I can't thank Miss Lea and Urban Forage enough! I was not sure if the tours were still happening, but after emailing for availability, Miss Ducky set me right up. Miss Lea came to pick me up with our really lovely driver, and she showed me so many places around the city. I'm so grateful for her answering all my questions, and helping me remember the names of dishes and how to order them in the future. I did the market and art tour together. Miss Lea showed me to a local market and helped me find it again if I want to go back - and I do! - and we had breakfast and coffee and lots of snacks. Then she showed me several wonderful streets full of street art, and told me the stories behind them. Several are related to folktales or history, and I'm grateful to learn a little more about the things I've seen. We paid our respects at a Wat and she showed me around so that I can do it again as well. Miss Lea is kind, and made sure I was comfortable and had done (and eaten!) all the things I wanted to. I'm a bit of an anxious person, and I wasn't sure if being on a solo tour was going be a little nervewracking, but Miss Lea made it easy and we ended up getting to talking. I learned a lot about history, art, food, and current events in the city. Thank you, Miss Lea, and thank you Urban Forage. This is an excellent tour, we got a perspective of the city that we would otherwise have missed entirely. This is an excellent tour, we got a perspective of the city that we would otherwise have missed entirely. The market/food part was great, an excellent way to see and taste Khmer cooking. Tour guide Shauna is passionate about street art so that portion of the tour really stood out. Overall, it was the highlight of our week in Phnom Penh, we highly recommend the tour. After a harrowing visit to the killing fields and the torture chambers of S21 we were left aghast. After a harrowing visit to the killing fields and the torture chambers of S21 we were left aghast. Cambodia is however not just it's past. Urban Forage give an ubeat insiders view, albeit expat, of this bustling city. You get to confidently try street food you might pass by, and wow it's delicious. From noodle soup prepared by an amazing lady that's been running a stall for decades, through to street pastries cooked over a barbeque. I would advise you not to have a heavy meal the night before. Then it's off to see edgy street art and murals in areas well off the tourist beaten path. Lastly we went to a factory repurposed art and business space. This gives you hope that the emergent creative and commercial talents of Cambodia have a platform to build a bright future that is far removed from the dark past.We did the Morning Breakfast tour (there was not street art part). We did the Morning Breakfast tour (there was not street art part). Pros: Friendly/professional tour guide, good selection of light/breakfast foods, good introduction knowledge to the markets/local produce, huge amount of food! Cons: Based on having done many food tours around the world, we found this tour could improve in 2 ways: 1) the tour should form relationships with the food vendors, so that a) the vendors can prepare/be ready for each tour group, and b) the tour guides get to know the vendors better and have more in depth knowledge to share about them. It was obvious that we were just walking up to all the vendors, and they didn't know the tour guide and wasn't expecting us. 2) the tour ended with a quick stop at Independence Monument, which was appreciated! It would be better if the tour guide can provide more information about the history, culture and architecture of the city during the tour (while we're walking), instead of just one quick stop for a photo.Lea is a fantastic guide to the city, and genuinely wants her guests to gain some understanding of life in Cambodia, both the good and less good aspects. Lea is a fantastic guide to the city, and genuinely wants her guests to gain some understanding of life in Cambodia, both the good and less good aspects. Conversation ranged through lots of topics - housing, education, Phnom Penh and how it is changing, the art scene...And on top of that we got to experience some really good food (Cambodian style coffee and donuts is the best sugar hit there is). After all the breakfasts you go exploring futher to see some interesting and powerful street art. There were only 2 other participants in this tour, and we had a trainee guide (I'm so sorry I have forgotten his name) as well so there was loads of opportunity to ask questions. Highly recommended as a great way to spend a morning and get a feel for life in the city. Thanks Lea!
