Myself and boyfriend did the early morning tour (5am-2pm) which includes everything on their leaflets: Buddhist prayer chanting, breakfast in a Tibetan home, discussions with a Buddhist monk, visits to 2 x refugee camps and more! It was an incredible tour, our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and a captivating story-teller. We were immediately sucked into the world he painted for us of the Tibetans fleeing Tibet and the amazing guidance of the Dalai Lama. I didn’t know anything about his teaching before this tour, and it has opened my eyes! Totally worth the $65, I feel much more connected and enriched from my visit to Nepal after this tour. This was a highlight of our stay in Pokhara. Fascinating, informative and moving tour. This was a highlight of our stay in Pokhara. Fascinating, informative and moving tour. Thupten is a wonderful and very knowledgeable guide, giving us an inside view on the refugee camps. He picked us up from the hotel, we started by visiting morning prayers at the monastery, then had breakfast in a Tibetan family home. Many activities, a good length, one highlight was getting diagnosis from a Tibetan doctor and getting to ask him questions about Tibetan medicine. Highly recommended.Thupten is incredibly knowledgeable about Tibetan history, the culture of its people and the Tibetan refugees from his first hand experience of living in the refugee camps with his family. Thupten is incredibly knowledgeable about Tibetan history, the culture of its people and the Tibetan refugees from his first hand experience of living in the refugee camps with his family. Thupten's personality is a beautiful blend of a great sense of humor and a truth telling "tell it like it is" mentality. My eyes were opened wide being educated about the Tibetan culture and their Buddhist religion. It will have you want to advocate for basic human rights for all who are being suppressed by governments, religions and other people worldwide. Aanrader!
